Who is Flock?

Flock Safety is the leading safety technology platform, helping communities thrive by taking a proactive approach to crime prevention and security. Our hardware and software suite connects cities, law enforcement, businesses, schools, and neighborhoods in a nationwide public-private safety network. Trusted by over 5,000 communities, 4,500 law enforcement agencies, and 1,000 businesses, Flock delivers real-time intelligence while prioritizing privacy and responsible innovation.

We’re a high-performance, low-ego team driven by urgency, collaboration, and bold thinking. Working at Flock means tackling big challenges, moving fast, and continuously improving. It’s intense but deeply rewarding for those who want to make an impact.

With nearly $700M in venture funding and a $7.5B valuation, we’re scaling intentionally and seeking top talent to help build the impossible. If you value teamwork, ownership, and solving tough problems, Flock could be the place for you.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the CMO, the Director of Social Media will be Flock’s first dedicated social hire - tasked with building our social presence from the ground up and scaling it into a powerful, multi-platform engine for brand, engagement, and growth. This is a rare chance to architect Flock’s social media strategy, voice, and playbook at scale, shaping how millions of people perceive our mission. We’re looking for a creative, data-driven leader who can balance brand storytelling with tactical execution. You’ll own the strategy and day-to-day management of Flock’s social channels, growing them significantly over the next 12–18 months while defining what “best-in-class” civic-tech social looks like.

  • Key responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute a bold, multi-platform social media strategy (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, and other emerging platforms).

    • Build Flock’s brand voice across social, shaping content that drives awareness, trust, and engagement across B2G and B2B audiences.

    • Manage the daily operation of Flock’s channels, content calendars, publishing, engagement, and real-time brand moments.

    • Partner with brand, creative, content, and comms teams to ensure social amplifies major campaigns, product launches, and storytelling initiatives.

    • Drive growth through audience insights, social listening, competitor benchmarking, and trend spotting.

    • Scale social into a performance engine: set KPIs, measure results, and use analytics to guide constant iteration.

    • Recruit and grow a small but mighty social team as the function scales.

    • Serve as an internal expert and evangelist on how social can drive pipeline, brand affinity, and community impact.

The Skillset
  • 10+ years of proven experience in social media strategy and execution, ideally in high-growth tech, civic-tech, and/or mission-driven companies.

  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling social followings and engagement from scratch.

  • Deep expertise across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, and other emerging platforms.

  • A strong blend of creative and analytical skills, with a proven ability to concept award-worthy campaigns and prove their impact with data.

  • Excellent understanding of brand building, tone of voice, and audience psychology.

  • Experience managing crisis comms and sensitive conversations online with nuance and professionalism.

  • Skilled at using social listening, analytics, and publishing tools.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills; ability to partner with executives, sales, comms, and product marketing.

  • Comfortable working fast, iterating, and testing bold ideas in public view.

Feeling uneasy that you haven’t ticked every box? That’s okay; we’ve felt that way too. Studies have shown women and minorities are less likely to apply unless they meet all qualifications. We encourage you to break the status quo and apply to roles that would make you excited to come to work every day.

90 Days at Flock

We are a results-oriented culture and believe job descriptions are a thing of the past. We prescribe to 90 day plans and believe that good days lead to good weeks, which lead to good months. This serves as a preview of the 90-day plan you will receive if you were to be hired as a Director of Social Media at Flock Safety.

First 30 Days

  • Audit Flock’s current social footprint and benchmark against top competitors.

  • Define the Y1 social strategy, including detailed KPI setting, content strategy, and brand tone of social in partnership with the CMO and comms team.

  • Build the first 90-day editorial and channel plan.

First 60 days

  • Launch restructured content calendars across LinkedIn, X, IG, and YouTube.

  • Establish reporting dashboards and define success metrics (growth, engagement, reach, sentiment, share of voice).

  • Deliver first viral or breakout campaign moments to signal a new era of Flock social.

90 Days and beyond

  • Own day-to-day social execution with clear rhythms and repeatable frameworks.

  • Show measurable growth in followers, engagement, and share of voice across priority platforms.

  • Present a 12-month roadmap for scaling social—including team needs, budget, and bold creative initiatives.
