About the role: 

As Director of Sales, you'll lead and develop a strong team of Account Managers and Account Executives who support some of Slate's most strategic clients across a variety of commercial markets. Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, you'll translate company strategy into sales plans, performance goals, and operating rhythms that drive profitable growth, exceptional client experiences, and long-term customer relationships. This role combines strategic sales leadership with executive client engagement and cross-functional collaboration to deliver seamless solutions and outstanding results. You'll lead an experienced, highly autonomous team where success comes from empowering others, strengthening client relationships, and driving results together. 

What you’ll do: 

  • Own the performance of your team by developing sales strategies, managing budgets, forecasts, and performance goals, while driving revenue, profitability, and long-term growth. 
  • Coach, develop, and hold your team accountable through regular one-on-one meetings, pipeline reviews, account planning, performance conversations, and ongoing professional development.  
  • Grow existing accounts and pursue new business opportunities through strategic account planning, consultative selling, competitive pursuit, pricing strategies, cross-selling, and upselling.
  • Serve as the executive sponsor for key client relationships, leading quarterly business reviews, strengthening partnerships, and guiding the resolution of complex customer or project challenges.  
  • Monitor sales performance through key metrics including pipeline health, forecast accuracy, revenue, gross profit, customer retention, and profitability, using CRM and sales data to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities. 
  • Partner with Design, Project Management, and cross-functional teams across Elements to align sales strategy with project execution, improve operational efficiency, and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.  
  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, and develop sales talent while supporting succession planning and fostering a collaborative, goal-oriented team culture.  
  • Lead forecasting meetings and strategic planning discussions while championing process improvements that strengthen sales effectiveness and support sustainable growth. 
  • Represent Slate in the market by building relationships with clients, manufacturer partners, and industry influencers while staying informed on market trends and competitive activity. 

Requirements

Who you are: 

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in sales, account management, or business development, along with 5+ years leading high-performing sales or account management teams.  
  • Proven success driving revenue, profitability, customer retention, and business growth within a complex B2B or solution-based sales environment. Experience in commercial interiors, contract furniture, architecture and design, construction, or a complex solution-based industry is a plus.  
  • An authentic, people-first leader who builds trust, develops others, and fosters accountability while empowering experienced sales professionals.  
  • Experience navigating consultative sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders, long timelines, and strategic decision-makers.  
  • Strong business and financial acumen with experience in forecasting, budgeting, pricing strategy, gross profit, and using data to drive informed business decisions.  
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, paired with the executive presence to represent Slate with clients and lead through complex situations. 
  • Strategic, analytical, and solutions-oriented, with sound judgment, a positive mindset, and a proactive approach to leading change and strengthening business performance.  
  • Proficient with CRM systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; EOS experience is a plus. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Design, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field preferred. 

Work Environment: 

This full-time role is based in our Denver office and is primarily in person to support collaboration, team leadership, and client engagement. Team members are typically in the office four days per week, with flexibility based on business needs and customer commitments. Regular local travel throughout Colorado is expected for client meetings and project support, along with occasional domestic travel for manufacturer events, customer meetings, and industry conferences. 

Compensation:  

On Target Earnings (OTE): $150,000-$210,000 annually 

Compensation includes a competitive base salary plus incentive opportunity and will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.
