Job Description

The Director, Product Management is responsible for leading SEAKR’s Product Management function and providing strategic ownership of the Company’s product portfolio. This role is accountable for developing and executing product strategy, product roadmaps, lifecycle management, market positioning, pricing strategy, financial performance, and customer engagement to ensure products meet customer needs and SEAKR’s growth objectives.

The Director will work closely with Engineering, Business Development, Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Executive Leadership to translate customer and market needs into actionable product strategies and investment priorities. This position will provide both strategic and hands-on product leadership, directly supporting key products and initiatives while establishing the processes, capabilities, and team necessary to support SEAKR’s growing product portfolio.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for SEAKR’s Product Management function and product portfolio.
  • Develop and execute product strategies that align customer needs, market opportunities, technical capabilities, and SEAKR growth objectives.
  • Own and oversee the complete product lifecycle from concept and development through launch, sustainment, growth, and retirement.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate product roadmaps, ensuring alignment across Engineering, Business Development, Program Management, Operations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Establish product management processes, tools, metrics, and best practices to support consistent product planning and execution across the organization.
  • Partner with Engineering to define product requirements, prioritize features and capabilities, and align product development activities with customer and market needs.
  • Identify and evaluate new products, technologies, capabilities, and market opportunities to support long-term business growth.
  • Partner with technical leadership to support Independent Research & Development (IRAD) planning, concept development, and investment prioritization.
  • Develop and evaluate business cases, ROI analyses, pricing strategies, financial forecasts, sales targets, and other financial considerations associated with product investments.
  • Monitor market trends, customer requirements, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies to guide product strategy and investment decisions.
  • Partner with Business Development and Capture teams to develop product growth strategies and support customer pursuits, proposals, and strategic opportunities.
  • Engage directly with existing and prospective customers to understand requirements, communicate product capabilities, gather feedback, and identify future product and market opportunities.
  • Translate technical product capabilities into clear customer value propositions and support customer presentations, demonstrations, and sales activities.
  • Establish product positioning and develop datasheets, presentations, website content, demonstrations, and other product marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to develop demand forecasts, inventory strategies, cost-reduction initiatives, and plans to improve product margins and profitability.
  • Establish and monitor key product performance indicators, including product health, sales forecasts, pipeline, revenue, profitability, roadmap execution, and Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs).
  • Regularly communicate product performance, risks, opportunities, roadmap progress, and investment recommendations to Executive Leadership.
  • Ensure appropriate product documentation is developed and maintained, including product requirements, roadmaps, business cases, risk registers, release information, and lifecycle documentation.
  • Identify cross-product opportunities, technology commonality, and portfolio priorities to maximize Company investment and market potential.
  • Build effective relationships across the organization and drive alignment among stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead Product Management personnel to support the evolving needs of the business and product portfolio.
  • Establish clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations for Product Management personnel.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development to direct reports and support the development of product management capabilities across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for the leadership and development of the Product Management function. Supervisory responsibilities include recruiting and selecting employees, establishing goals and priorities, assigning and directing work, providing coaching and feedback, conducting performance evaluations, and supporting the professional development of Product Management personnel.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Extensive knowledge of product management principles, product lifecycle management, product strategy, and portfolio management.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute product strategies, product roadmaps, and go-to-market plans for complex technical products.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace and defense markets, customers, technologies, and product development environments.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including experience with pricing strategy, ROI analysis, forecasting, revenue planning, cost management, and product profitability.
  • Ability to evaluate market opportunities and translate customer requirements and market intelligence into product and investment priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives involving Engineering, Business Development, Operations, Finance, Program Management, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, develop, and motivate a high-performing team.
  • Ability to effectively influence decisions and drive organizational alignment across functions and levels of leadership.
  • Strong customer engagement, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical and business information effectively to engineers, customers, executives, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple products and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt priorities based on changing customer and business needs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with product management tools (e.g., Jira) is preferred.

Education or Formal Training: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical or business discipline required.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field preferred.
  • Product Management certification or related professional certification preferred.

     Experience: 

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in product management, engineering, business development, or related functions within aerospace, defense, space, or another highly technical industry.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and managing complex technical products throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience developing product strategies, roadmaps, business cases, pricing strategies, and market growth plans.
  • Experience working directly with customers and supporting business development and sales activities for technical products.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior-level stakeholders.
  • Prior people leadership experience, including experience developing employees and/or building organizational capability, strongly preferred.
  • Experience within a small-to-mid-sized, high-growth business environment preferred.

Additional Information

Compensation: Base salary range is $225,000-275,000, depending on qualifications. SEAKR has very rich medical, dental and vision insurance plans, along with a generous 401(k) retirement plan. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for a year-end bonus. SEAKR offers a variety of paid leave, such as vacation, sick, bereavement, and FMLA.
