Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Director of Sourcing and Product Development,. This individual will lead the product development process ensuring product integrity, calendar adherence and achievement of cost targets. This individual will work collaborately with the Operations, Merchandising, and Design teams to bring designs to life by managing development from initial concept through final production.
This individual will work closely with the SVP of Supply Chain to establish the Sourcing strategy, new COO, factory exploration and factory onboarding.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Sourcing
- Execute overall global Sourcing strategy that supports product and company needs.
- Develop key strategies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Clearly communicate the vision and strategies to all cross functional partners; direct and monitor the successful implementation of strategies.
- Implement and manage long term agreements which deliver best in class quality, delivery, and total cost.
- Evaluate existing sources for capability and progressiveness, manufacturing capability, quality system, management and financial stability, cost competitiveness and responsiveness.
- Research and evaluate alternate sources of supply. Communicate opportunities with cross functional teams and make recommendations for alternate suppliers, designs, and materials to reduce costs.
- Proactively coordinate the selection and qualification process of new suppliers
- Request and analyze cost quotations including cost break down analysis to aide negotiations of per unit cost.
- Manage the onboarding process for new suppliers until ready to enter the supplier factory matrix.
- Actively participate in new product development and manage the purchasing activities involved with initial phases of new product introduction.
- Determine Key Performance metrics and develop and implement tools and processes to measure performance of suppliers.
- Determine capacity and other key production factors for all factories and work closely with production planning to aid in the management of capacity needs.
Product Development
- Lead the product development team; manage priorities and workflow.
- Establish and communicate goals and priorities in alignment with company strategies.
- Partner closely with merchandising and design to execute market leading product on time and within cost parameters. Work collaboratively to re-engineer products as necessary.
- Direct and communicate with factories and overseas partners to execute products from a quality, color, construction, and fit standpoint.
- Manage product development process via PLM throughout the product lifecycle.
- Oversee sample and product changes / approvals / drops.
- Utilize clear analysis, documentation, and communication to insure adherence to product standards.
The Ideal Candidate:
- 5+ years of management experience
- Entrepreneurial mindset and can-do attitude; demonstrating critical and creative thinking
- Proficiency and knowledge in color, grading, construction and fit
- Hosiery experience preferred
- High level of organization to facilitate multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to quickly problem solve, self-motivated, and a strong sense of urgency
- Collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively cross-functionally
- Flexibility and availability to take early morning or evening calls with overseas teams
- Ability to effectively communicate with overseas teams with language barrier
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Illustrator & PLM
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Bachelor's degree in product development or technical design preferred
- 5-7 years product development experience
- Must be okay to work in a dog friendly office
Other job Details:
- Salary Range: $110,000-$160,000
- Status: Hybrid (in-office 3 days/ week) in Denver
- Reports to: SVP Supply Chain
