SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Director of Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for all manufacturing operations, with full accountability for production performance, safety, environmental sustainability, facilities and maintenance, and continuous improvement. This role ensures safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient operations while building the systems, capabilities, and culture required to support long‑term business growth and operational excellence.

The Director of Operations champions a safety‑first culture, drives operational performance against key metrics, ensures effective asset and facilities management, and embeds continuous improvement into daily operations. The role partners closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality, as well as Site Business Leadership to align operational execution with enterprise strategy and customer requirements.

REPORTING TO: Global President & Denver Site Lead, BAND-IT

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Production & Operational Execution
    • Lead all production operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity targets.
    • Establish and sustain operating standards, daily management routines, and performance metrics.
    • Ensure operational readiness, capacity alignment, and workforce effectiveness to meet current and future demand.
  • Safety, Environmental & Sustainability Leadership
    • Champion a zero‑harm safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Lead integration of environmental sustainability into operations, including energy, waste, emissions, and resource management initiatives.
    • Ensure EHS and sustainability principles are embedded into processes, standard work, training, and improvement activities.
  • Facilities & Maintenance
    • Provide leadership for facilities and maintenance functions to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
    • Drive preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime, asset life, and facility reliability.
    • Oversee facility planning, infrastructure health, and coordination of capital investments and upgrades.
  • Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
    • Lead the deployment of continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste, improve flow, and increase productivity.
    • Drive structured problem‑solving, standard work, and visual management across operations.
    • Sponsor kaizen events, cross‑functional improvement initiatives, and capability building throughout the organization.
  • People & Leadership Development
    • Build, develop, and coach high‑performing operations, maintenance, EHS, and CI leadership teams.
    • Promote engagement, accountability, and a culture of ownership and continuous learning.
    • Ensure succession planning and leadership capability to sustain operational performance.
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Strategy & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Business leaders to align operational priorities with strategic objectives.
    • Support new product introductions, process changes, and growth initiatives while maintaining operational stability.
    • Contribute to site and enterprise strategy, operational planning, and capital investment decisions.
  • Actively model IDEX values: Team, Trust, and Excellence.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job successfully. 

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government publications.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal (e.g., Senior Leadership Team, manager, general staff across all levels) and external (e.g., customers, quality certification auditors etc.) stakeholders.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to project consistent professional leadership under stressful business circumstances. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; operations or engineering preferred
  • 10+ years of manufacturing or industrial operations experience, with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
  • 5+ years in a team leadership role managing professionals and managers in a manufacturing environment.
  • Track record of improving operational performance metrics across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and efficiency.
  • Experience leading change management and cultural improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop leaders and build high‑performing teams, including succession planning and capability development.
  • Strong cross‑functional leadership experience partnering with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, EHS, and Business Leadership.
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Experience with industrial quality systems (ISO, IATF).
    • Experience in high‑volume manufacturing environments.
    • Prior responsibility for capital investment planning and execution.

The compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, skills, and internal equity.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $156,000.00 - $234,000.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
