Job Description

  

The Director of Sales establishes and maintains strategic, long-term relationships with customers that incorporate Teledyne FLIR’s commercial camera products and camera subassembly components into higher level assemblies or products that are re-sold under separate company names, products, and/or brands.

  • OEM Product Sales:  Generate product sales and provide sales support across all market segments and all applications.
    • Identify new sales opportunities for Teledyne FLIR products for use by OEM customers and value-added resellers (VARs).
    • Travel to customer and prospect facilities and present Teledyne FLIR value proposition and product portfolio/roadmap.
    • Support use of Teledyne FLIR’s standard or customized/modified products, subsystems, or components, by OEM customers in various applications and/or product platforms.
  • Plan & Forecast:  Provide short and long-term sales plan and forecasts for the OEM market segment.
    • Maintain prospect and customer data within Dynamics.
    • Support monthly demand forecast by ensuring all opportunities are documented within Dynamics
    • Develop and maintain annual sales forecast.
    • Set sales goals based on market research and trends.
  • Sales Channel / Direct Sales Support:  Support relevant representatives, distributors, internal sales, and Teledyne FLIR Contracts organization. Support is provided over all market segments, with specific emphasis on OEM sales. Manage selected sales opportunities, as well as identified major customer accounts.
  • Attend trade shows and exhibitions as necessary and requested by management.   Such shows may be within or outside assigned sales territory.
  • Resolve issues and conflicts related to customer expectations and/or purchase order content, delivery requirements.
  • Direct and support multiple sales channels by providing product training, technical responses, customer demos & visits, and pricing strategies.
  • Provide technical support to customers calling direct to Teledyne FLIR.
  • Provide backup for and guidance to other segment managers.
  • Liaison between Sales Channels/Customers and Product Managers/intra-company departments.
  • Product Management Support:  Provide interim guidance and direction to various product manufacturing teams regarding delivery priorities, build forecasts and configurations, product attributes, options, accessories, etc.
    • Review and validate existing products needs & requirements.
    • Identify requirements specific to new or customized products.
    • Participate in camera product teams, to provide sales input and customer requirements.
  • Marketing support: Assist Marketing in developing marketing tactics (promotions/advertising/etc.) to capture leadership position.
    • Generate, review, edit, and approve content for product ads & brochures, press releases, web site pages, trade show publications, white papers.
    • Select and attend trade show events that are oriented towards OEM customers and applications.
    • Identify advertising, promotional opportunities, and market campaigns specific to OEM customers and applications.
  • Client Services Support:  Provide direction and assistance as needed to resolve customer issues related to product returns or repairs, pricing for repairs, responses to customer questions & inquiries.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by management

Job Qualifications:

  • BS with technical background preferred.  BA with appropriate experience acceptable
  • 5+ years prior sales experience preferably in the infrared industry
  • ​Strong Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook,  and PowerPoint.  Dynamics a plus. 
  • Ability to develop expertise in application specific computer tools and software (i.e. Boson app)
  • Technical expertise in operation/applications of IR cameras, systems, market  & components
  • Must be able to travel up to 75%
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and present to groups of technical personnel
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to carry equipment weighing 30 pounds.
  • Must have a clean driving record.

Additional preferred skills:

  • Prior experience in DoD related sales
  • Experience selling high volume OEM components

  

Salary Range:

$152,000.00-$203,100.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
