Director, Liability Claims plays an integral part of the MSI Claims team which partners with others to deliver a high level of claims handling and advocacy across liability claims exposure for MSI products. This individual will foster a creative environment to bring forth the skills and talents of department team members and our partners.  The Director, Liability Claims will also establish the immediate and long-term goals and objectives for liability exposure claims handling and advocacy across the department while developing innovation through technology, data insights and other resources.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day activities of a group of Claims professionals and third party partners.
  • Develop the technical and leadership skills of Claims Managers and Claims colleagues.
  • Acts as an expert in managing insurance claims on an individual and portfolio level, and is utilized as a trainer and mentor within their technical expertise.
  • Maintains expert level knowledge and experience in insurance claims handling and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Maintain and develop relationships and effectively communicate with a diverse range of clients, carriers, TPA’s and colleagues.
  • Responsible for the strategic vision coupled with tactical execution of risk mitigation plans.
  • Learning and Development of Claims Consultants and other Claims Colleagues as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in MS Office Word and Excel with the ability to learn new system programs and technologies.
  • Supply the highest quality support to stakeholder groups, TPA’s, adjusters and customers through expert communication, diligence, organization and expedient follow-up.
  • Facilitate communication between TPA’s, carriers, legal team when escalations or claims related matters arise and require review or discussion for resolution.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • At least 5+ years of management experience overseeing a team of five or more colleagues in the claims administration field.
  • Must have 10+ years of experience within a client/customer facing role and preferably insurance industry related.
