About the RoleThe Director of Inventory and Logistics will develop and execute comprehensive strategies to optimize inventory levels, streamline logistics operations, and enhance supply chain efficiency while ensuring mission-critical components are available when needed. This role requires balancing cost control with the unique demands of aerospace & defense operations, where quality and timeliness are paramount.About You

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management 

  • Develop and implement inventory management strategies to ensure optimal inventory levels and minimize costs  

  • Oversee processes to meet project and mission requirements  

  • Monitor and analyze inventory performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement  

  • Drive initiatives to reduce excess and obsolete inventory, improving overall inventory turnover  

  • Develop and maintain inventory management systems and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency 

Logistics Operations:

  • Design and optimize logistics networks to support global operations and mission requirements 

  • Develop transportation strategies for critical components, including specialized handling for sensitive aerospace materials 

  • Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring efficient storage, handling, and distribution of materials

  • Implement best practices in logistics to reduce lead times and transportation costs 

  • Establish contingency plans for logistics disruptions to maintain operational continuity

Strategic Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor the integrated inventory and logistics teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including procurement, production, engineering, and quality assurance 

  • Develop and execute supply chain risk management strategies specific to aerospace industry challenges 

  •  Drive digital transformation initiatives across inventory and logistics operations 

  • Establish KPIs and performance measurement systems for the entire supply chain

Supplier and Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage relationships with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers  

  • Negotiate service level agreements to ensure quality and timely delivery 

  • Prepare and present comprehensive supply chain reports to senior management  

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements including export control and aerospace industry standards 

  • Represent supply chain interests in cross-functional project planning and execution 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred  

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role spanning both inventory and logistics functions  

  • Strong knowledge of inventory management and logistics principles, practices, and tools  

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing integrated supply chain strategies  

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions  

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams  

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams  

  • Proficiency in inventory management software, transportation management systems, and ERP systems  

  • Experience in aerospace or industrial manufacturing is highly desirable

  • APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) or CSCMP certification is a plus

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with aerospace supply chain operations and familiarity with space industry requirements  

  • Knowledge of DoD/government requirements for defense product handling/experience managing government property  

  • Knowledge of international logistics and import/export regulations/ITAR management  

  • Experience managing complex, high-value inventory with specialized handling requirements  

  • Background in implementing lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies in supply chain operations  

  • Track record of successful supply chain transformation initiatives 



Compensation:

Pay Range:

$155,851.00 - $214,315.00

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
