To be successful in this role, you will need depth of experience leading technology portfolio and delivery management for a large-scale consumer goods or retail corporation.  You excel at defining portfolio and program plans and then driving them with a bias towards action and results.  You are adept at collaborating across boundaries, working through barriers, and activating others against common goals.  With a Technology organization undergoing exciting transformation in our ways of working, this role requires that you are comfortable navigating ambiguity, meeting others where they are, and inspiring and pacing diverse teams through impactful change.

In this role, you will lead a matrixed team to create, instill, and support planning, insights, financial, and overall delivery management processes and best practices. As a leader on the broader Technology Portfolio Management team, you understand that your role is to unite and bring others together against a common vision and you are comfortable and effective in delivering results that require cross-functional partnership, both within the technology organization (e.g., product management, architecture, engineering) and with our business partners (e.g., strategic planning, HR, finance).

As we build momentum and undertake significant progress in the year ahead, the ideal candidate is a deep subject matter expertise in Portfolio Planning, Portfolio Management and Measurement, Technology Dependency Management, and Program Management Practices that support Platform-based Architecture and Product Management & Agile Practices.  In this role, you are able to seamlessly connect the perspective of scrum teams through Program offenses and culminate it into a holistic Portfolio view.

As the leader of the Enterprise Technology Portfolio and Program, you are accountable for executive level communication, engagement, and the facilitation of critical decision making needed to ensure successful delivery of Portfolio and Program commitments. You balance confidence with humility and can effectively focus and activate senior leaders against the most critical work and continually improve our ways of working.

At a minimum, you should be experienced in the following capabilities to thrive in this role:

  • Enterprise Portfolio and Program Management: Initiate and lead the governance and delivery of portfolio and program outcomes, using appropriate portfolio and program management methodologies to give assurance that intended outcomes are identified and achieved. Stand up and mature Communities of Practice (COPs) to help support best practices and continuous improvement.

  • Portfolio Planning: Manage the production of portfolio plans, ensuring that all activities are identified, are appropriately organized and resourced to deliver portfolio objectives, and comply with the organization's portfolio management framework. Drive, develop and/or deliver portfolio budget plans with guidance from senior teammates.

  • Leadership and Direction: Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement Portfolio strategy within Technology; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve Portfolio goals.

  • Digital Vision and Strategy: Contribute to the development of the digital roadmap and key strategic enablers, designing the workflow and Portfolio lifecycle that allow new applications, products, and services to be rolled out quickly while ensuring that legacy applications and technology operations are maintained at optimal levels.

  • Risk and Issue Management: Manage identification of risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints appropriately at the portfolio level. Where risks or issues threaten delivery of the portfolio, drive alignment and decisions in support of defined recovery plans.

  • Reporting and Review: Establish a model and execute the delivery of regular Portfolio insights to understand Technology business health and inform needed investments and continuous improvement focus areas.

  • Transformational Change Management: Act as a transformational change agent for Portfolio and Program Management practices, ensuring integration with other disciplines/functions; build management commitment and use structured change management methodologies to drive acceptance of change and to embed desired culture and behaviors.

  • Stakeholder Management: Oversee the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies and plans across portfolios to identify relevant stakeholders, create mutually supportive working relationships, and ensure that each stakeholder has an appropriate share of voice in portfolio discussions.

  • Team Management: Manage and report on the performance of a diverse team; create an environment for continued growth and development; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or matrixed team members and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team / personal objectives
