Who We Are

Sureify’s mission is to modernize the life insurance and annuity industry by helping carriers acquire, service, and engage their customers through any distribution channel. Sureify’s products empower life insurance carriers, agents, employees, and customers to have the digital experiences employees and consumers have come to expect in the rapidly advancing tech climate.

About Sureify

Sureify is on a mission to modernize the life insurance and annuity industry. Our enterprise platform, Lifetime, empowers carriers to acquire, service, and engage their customers through a seamless digital ecosystem. We help legacy carriers bridge the gap between complex backend systems and the modern consumer experience.

We are a team of innovators who believe that our products are only as good as the people who build them. We are looking for a strategic leader to scale our infrastructure as we continue to grow rapidly.

The Role

We are seeking a Director of DevOps to lead our global infrastructure strategy, cloud operations, and developer experience. In this role, you will own the reliability, scalability, and security of the Lifetime platform, which serves millions of policyholders.

You will manage and grow a high-performing team of DevOps and SRE engineers, bridging the gap between software development and operational excellence. You will not just be "keeping the lights on"—you will be architecting the next generation of our cloud-native environment to support rapid feature delivery and enterprise-grade security.

What You Will Do
  • Strategic Leadership: Define the vision and roadmap for DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) at Sureify. Align technical decisions with business goals (e.g., cost optimization, uptime, speed to market).

  • Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and retain a world-class team of DevOps engineers. Foster a culture of automation, continuous improvement and psychological safety.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Oversee the management of our AWS environment using Terraform and Kubernetes. Ensure our infrastructure is immutable, reproducible, and scalable.

  • DevSecOps & Compliance: Given our industry (Insurtech), security is paramount. Partner with the Security team to enforce SOC2, HIPAA, and ISO standards within the CI/CD pipeline.

  • Developer Experience: Obsess over the "inner loop" of development. Optimize CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitHub Actions) to ensure our developers can deploy code rapidly and safely.

  • Observability & Reliability: Champion an SRE mindset. Improve our monitoring, logging, and alerting stacks (New Relic, Prometheus) to ensure 99.99% availability.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Delivery leadership to align infrastructure strategy with customer delivery timelines, ensuring reliable launches and long-term client success.

  • Budget Ownership: Manage cloud costs (FinOps), ensuring we are scaling efficiently without unnecessary waste.

What We Are Looking For
  • Experience: 10+ years in engineering/operations, with at least 3 years in a people-management role.

  • Cloud Expertise: Deep technical mastery of AWS (EC2, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, VPC, etc.). You should be comfortable discussing architecture trade-offs with Principal Engineers.

  • Containerization: Proven experience running Kubernetes in production at scale.

  • Tech Stack: Familiarity with our core stack is a huge plus: Node.js, React, and MySQL/PostgreSQL.

  • Security First: Experience working in regulated industries (Insurance, Fintech, Healthcare) and managing compliance requirements (SOC2, GDPR).

  • The "Services" Factor: Experience working in an organization that has both R&D and Professional Services/Implementation arms. You understand the difference between deploying code and deploying a customer configuration.

  • Leadership Style: You lead by example and judge ideas based on quality, not the title of the person proposing them.

First 90 Days: Success Criteria
  • Month 1: Conduct a full audit of current infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud costs; build relationships with Engineering Leads and Product Managers.

  • Month 2: Establish a clear roadmap for the next 4 quarters, prioritizing security hardening and deployment velocity improvements.

  • Month 3: Implement key quick wins in automation and successfully lead the team through a major release cycle with zero downtime.

Our Guiding Principles

Our products are for nothing if their creators are not fulfilled in their work. We want our employees to flourish at Sureify. We do not fawn over status or titles, instead, we honor effort and intelligence. The best idea wins no matter which colleague proposed it. We do not shortcut our mission with overblown claims or false promises. Sticking to the truth is both a strategy and a principle for us.
