As the Director of the Cost Planning team at Micron Technology, Inc., you will manage a team handling planning, analysis, and reporting of global consolidated standard cost, manufacturing variance, and other cost of sales (OCOS). This is an outstanding opportunity to lead and innovate in a world-class organization at the forefront of technology and finance!
You and your team will work with global finance departments such as Financial Planning & Analysis, Cost & Inventory Accounting, Front End Finance, Assembly and Test Finance, and Business Unit Finance. You will also collaborate with functions such as Global Operations, Supply Chain Planning, Procurement, and Product Engineering. Together, you will prepare forecasts every quarter, month, and week. You will report to Micron's Vice President and communicate with executive management. Your role includes explaining cost trends and manufacturing variances and offering insights to optimize cost performance using your knowledge of cost drivers.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Forecast and analyze overall Micron COGS plan. Communicate insights effectively to executives and partners. Analyze variance between actual COGS vs forecast
  • Responsible for setting standard costing rules and principles, and adapting to evolving business needs
  • Refresh standard cost based on planning cadence and help partners to understand the changes
  • Plan manufacturing variance along with standard cost refresh for each planning cycle. Analyze and communicate insight to executives and partners
  • Capture and analyze actual manufacturing variance vs plan, partnering with accounting and manufacturing finance team
  • Plan OCOS and analyzing variance between actual and forecast

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor and/or Master Degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Deep and broad product-costing experience and knowledge of related processes and systems (including ERP-systems like SAP)
  • At least 15 years of work experience in Finance, Accounting, Financial Controlling or related fields in the manufacturing industry (electronics manufacturing, semiconductors or other high-tech industries preferred)
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience

  • Standard cost setting experience
  • Ambitious and intellectually curious, with a high energy level, growth mindset and passion for identifying and implementing improvement opportunities
  • Strong analytical skills and discernment
  • Proven ability to perform in an environment characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA)
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to build solid interpersonal relationships based on mutual trust
  • Demonstrated capability to build highly effective and engaged teams
  • Excellent written and verbal English-language communication and presentation skills

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$151,000.00 - $313,000.00 a year
Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
