The Role:
Apryse builds document SDKs relied on by millions of developers. The question is no longer whether developers will use AI to find tools like ours, it’s whether Apryse shows up when they do.
As Director of AEO & Developer Marketing, you’ll own Apryse’s presence across every surface where developers discover solutions: LLM-generated answers, coding assistants, AI search, developer communities, and third-party technical channels.
It is time to build a repeatable playbook, earn credibility with a developer audience that can smell marketing from a mile away, and connect your work directly to pipeline. Not impressions. Not followers. Revenue.
You’ll be a player-coach from day one: setting the strategy, doing the work yourself, and building the function around you as results come in.
Responsibilities:
- Own the AEO & GEO Strategy
- Define and execute Apryse’s approach to Answer Engine Optimization and Generative Engine Optimization — the frameworks, the content types, the channels, and the feedback loops.
- Monitor Apryse’s presence in LLM-generated answers and AI search surfaces (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and others) and systematically improve it.
- Identify the queries that matter most — “best PDF SDK for Python”,“how do I redact text in a React app” — and engineer Apryse into the answer.
Build Developer Community Presence
- Execute an off-page strategy across Stack Overflow, Reddit, GitHub Discussions, dev.to, Discord communities, and wherever Apryse’s buyers are asking questions.
- Show up as a trusted voice, not a brand account. You understand developer problems well enough to answer them, not just point people at the docs.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with technical influencers, open-source contributors, and community moderators relevant to Apryse’s ecosystem.
Create Technical Content That Gets Used
- Produce and distribute code snippets, integration guides, tutorials, and answers that developers actually bookmark, cite, and share.
- Collaborate with product, DevRel, and content teams to surface technical narratives and ensure Apryse’s documentation and third-party footprint are tightly aligned.
- Refresh and evolve the Apryse developer brand voice across external channels — sharper, more developer-native, less corporate.
Requirements:
- 6–10 years in developer marketing, developer relations, technical content, or a closely adjacent role — ideally at a company that sells to engineers.
- A demonstrable track record of building developer community presence from scratch or at meaningful scale — not managing a brand account, but being in the trenches.
- Genuine fluency with AEO, GEO, and how LLMs surface and cite technical content. You’ve thought seriously about this, not just read the blog posts.
- Experience in a developer tools, SDK, API, or infrastructure company is strongly preferred. SaaS-only backgrounds are unlikely to be a fit.
- Prior people leadership or function-building experience is a plus; comfort operating as a senior IC with future hiring responsibility isa must.
Skills & Mindset
- You can speak developer. You know the difference between a good code sample and a bad one, even if you’re not writing production code yourself.
- You’re commercially wired. You know the difference between work that built awareness and work that moved pipeline — and you care deeply about the latter.
- You’re a builder who’s comfortable with grunt work: writing the 15th community answer, tweaking the content angle again, doing the manual outreach. You don’t wait for headcount before doing the work.
- You’re a strong written communicator who can shift registers — precise technical answer on Stack Overflow, punchy Reddit comment, detailed integration guide, internal exec update.
- You’re self-directed and energized by ambiguity. The playbook doesn’t fully exist yet. That excites you more than it worries you.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- A comprehensive extended benefits package including health, dental and vision for you and your family, with company paid offerings.
- An uncapped commissions structure.
- Generous paid time off (PTO) is offered to support the ability to rest and recharge.
- A great team environment and resources, supporting you to do the best work of your life and providing unlimited career growth potential.
- Highly autonomous and entrepreneurial environment.
- Annual recurring WFH allowance for you to purchase items you need for your home office.
- Ongoing support for learning development so you can master your craft.
- Work with the hardware you're most comfortable with (Windows or Mac).
- Diverse and inclusive workplace where we all learn from each other.
