Position Summary: 

Are you energized by a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same? FOX21 News is seeking our next Digital Producer to join our tight-knit, energetic, and hardworking digital team. If you love to write, are a great multi-tasker, and can work quickly, this is the job for you. This role is responsible for updating FOX21 News’ website, curating high-performing content, and helping to report the news; everything from quick-hit local stories to breaking news and enterprise reports. This position is full-time, in-person, and may include working early mornings, nights, and/or weekends.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Report and write news quickly and accurately
  • Distribute content on FOX21News.com and FOX21’s social media platforms 
  • Monitor all forms of media and hunt for newsworthy content 
  • Pitch and write enterprise stories that stand out from competition  
  • Clip videos from newscasts to add on FOX21News.com
  • Review copy and correct errors in content
  • Push engaging and breaking stories on mobile app 
  • Other duties as assigned

Skill/ Experience Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in digital content and journalism
  • Capable of researching, interviewing, and writing original news articles
  • Ability to multi-task in times of breaking news, severe weather, etc. 
  • Must have attention to detail, copy editing, grammatical and basic AP Style writing skills 
  • Organized, technical problem solver and quick decision maker
  • Understands social media’s importance in reporting stories and delivering traffic
  • Can communicate, coordinate and collaborate with other members of the newsroom 
  • Schedule flexibility including a rotating on-call schedule
  • Responds well to feedback
  • Regularly meets measurements of success
  • Understands goals and regularly works toward achieving them
  • Enjoys working in teams and has excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism and newsroom experience preferred

Compensation

  • Compensation $19.23/ hr + commensurate with experience and skill level.
  • Benefits include Medical, dental, vision, Life Insurance, and 401K with company match.
