The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Digital Experience Designer designs and optimizes user-centered experiences across MyWWP, WWP's member web portal and mobile application, as well as related digital products. Working closely with Product Management, Technology, Analytics, Marketing, and Program teams, this role transforms warrior and family support member insights into intuitive, accessible, and engaging digital experiences that improve resource discovery, self-service adoption, program participation, and overall satisfaction. Using user research, interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, and experience design, the role helps members more easily access support, build meaningful connections, and engage with WWP programs and services. As a champion for the warrior experience, the Digital Experience Designer helps ensure WWP experiences deliver on its vision as a trusted digital companion throughout the warrior journey.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct user interviews, usability tests, surveys, and discovery activities.
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights into actionable recommendations.
- Identify user needs, pain points, and opportunities across end-to-end warrior and FSM journeys, helping shape product priorities and experience strategy.
- Map and optimize end-to-end member journeys across digital and human support touchpoints.
- Define and monitor user experience success measures to evaluate the effectiveness of design improvements and member outcomes.
- Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Design and refine experiences across onboarding, resource discovery, program participation, events, referrals, and community engagement.
- Define interaction patterns and experience requirements for new features and enhancements.
- Support product teams throughout design, testing, and implementation.
- Apply accessibility and inclusive design principles throughout the design process to ensure that WWP’s digital engagement tools are inclusive, seamless, and easy to navigate.
- Contribute to the evolution of the MyWWP design system and user interface standards.
- Promote consistency and seamlessness across all digital tools and experiences.
- Partner with Product, Technology, Marketing, Programs, and Digital Warrior Experience teams to deliver user-centered solutions.
- Partner with Business Systems Analysts to translate user experience design concepts into functional requirements, specifications, and implementation-ready solutions.
- Facilitate focus groups, design workshops, and stakeholder reviews.
- Present research findings, concepts, and recommendations to partners and leadership.
- Partner with content owners to improve information architecture, navigation, content discoverability, and user comprehension.
- Participate in Agile planning, sprint activities, and release readiness efforts.
- Attend and actively participate in required training and/or meetings, including but not limited to New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team based training, or departmental huddles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Ability to gain a strong working knowledge of WWP programs and services and integrate them effectively to meet warrior needs.
- Demonstrated ability to translate user insights into actionable design recommendations.
- Proficiency with user experience design, prototyping, and collaboration tools, including Figma and FigJam, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of information architecture, navigation design, and content organization principles.
- Ability to use user research, journey mapping, service blueprinting, and accessibility evaluation methods to identify needs and improve end-to-end experiences.
- Demonstrated understanding of design systems and component libraries.
- Ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data, identify patterns and opportunities, and translate findings into experience recommendations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to resonate with diverse audiences across various platforms.
- Ability to facilitate collaborative workshops, journey mapping sessions, design reviews, and stakeholder alignment activities.
- Knowledge of analytics platforms, such as GA4, Adobe Analytics, and Pendo, and their application in evaluating user behavior and informing design decisions.
- Proven ability to influence decisions, build consensus, and drive adoption across cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Ability to define and measure user experience outcomes, using success metrics to evaluate the impact of design decisions.
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze complex information and recommend creative, practical, and high-impact solutions.
- Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.

EXPERIENCE
Requirements
- Five years of experience in UX, product design, interaction design, or related disciplines.
- Three years of experience designing customer-facing mobile and web experiences.
- Three years of experience creating wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity designs.
- Two years of experience conducting user research and usability testing.
Preferences
- Experience contributing to or maintaining design systems across multiple digital products.
- Experience supporting digital communities, personalization strategies, or engagement platforms.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and assistive technology considerations.
- Experience with nonprofit, healthcare, membership, community, or service-based platforms.
EDUCATION
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in user experience design, human-centered design, human factors, information architecture, graphic design, digital media, computer science, or related field. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

For Colorado Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $90,316 - $112,896 annual base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
For Chicago, IL, San Diego, CA and Washington State Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $98,918 - $123,648 annual base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
For Washington, D.C. Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $103,219 - $129,024 annual base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
For New York Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $107,520 - $134,400 annual base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
