The role is part of the Blue Ring space vehicle product line, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

We are seeking a Senior Day of Launch Systems Engineer to own and execute all day-of-launch activities for the Blue Ring spacecraft. This individual will serve as the primary integrator between the spacecraft team, launch vehicle provider, Space Launch Delta 45, and Space Force Mission Assurance — ensuring every stakeholder is aligned, every contingency is planned for, and every countdown runs with precision. The ideal candidate brings deep experience leading mission rehearsals, managing launch countdown sequences, and writing launch scripts for on-console personnel. This role demands a systems thinker who can operate effectively under pressure, coordinate anomaly responses in real time, and drive launch readiness from rehearsal through execution — all while maintaining the rigor and traceability that NSSL mission standards require.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead for planning and execution of mission rehearsals (Integrated Crew Exercises, Mission Dress Rehearsals, Tabletops, etc.) to ensure DoL readiness for the Satellite Vehicle program office.

• Develop technical products for SV standalone use and coordinate with broad mission team for integrated products, countdown timelines, rehearsal timelines/Plan and rehearsal anomalies.

• Interface with launch stakeholders(Space Vehicle Contractor, Processing facility, Space Launch Delta 45, Launch Vehicle, and Space Force Mission Assurance team) to ensure launch requirements are met.

• Prepare, coordinate, and manage launch-site control rooms, seating charts, resources, and timelines to support mission objectives.

• Write all the launch scripts for all of the personnel on console. This includes internal team members and the customer.

• Manage the launch countdown sequence. Work with the spacecraft team and the launch vehicle provider to establish the launch countdown sequence.

• Manage and integrate voice, data, timing, and video requirements for Day of Launch all personnel on console.

• Rehearsal Anomaly Team (RAT) lead for all missions this includes the creation of green cards for launch contingency planning.

• Execute individual exercises from an on-console position: starting, guiding, ending, and advising and necessary.

• Prepare the SV team for day of launch per NSSL standards.

• Develop, validate, integrate, and verify execution of Program Requirements Document .

• Coordinate contingency responses in the event of any anomalies.

• Create the hardware recovery plan in the event of a launch anomaly.

• Work with payload providers to determine launch commit criteria’s (LCC’s).

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. or equivalent experience in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or a relevant technical field 
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in systems engineering principles and execution
• Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills as well as organizational skills
• TS/SCI
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

• M.S. degree in a relevant technical field 
• 15 years of related experience 
• Experience running mission rehearsals and ICEs
• Experience working with the SLD 45 and Space Force to support launch activities
