Data Insights Analyst - Sr. Advisor

Job Description Summary

Candidates residing in the St. Petersburg/Tampa area are expected to follow a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
Join the Supervision Data, Metrics & Reporting team and help us use data to better understand risk, identify opportunities for improvement, and support informed business decisions.
Our team works across Supervision and Technology to bring together data, analytics, metrics, reporting, and visualization. We are looking for someone who enjoys getting into the data, asking questions, investigating what is driving the results, and turning that analysis into insights that others can understand and act on.
A key focus of this role will be Supervision’s alert testing and calibration program, including Above-the-Line and Below-the-Line (ATL/BTL) analysis. You will work directly with Supervision subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand how alerts work, test thresholds and criteria, analyze the results, and present findings and potential recommendations. You will also have opportunities to apply your analytical, data, and problem-solving skills to new projects as the team’s priorities evolve.
This role provides an opportunity to deepen your experience in data analytics, supervisory risk, data quality, visualization, and AI-assisted analysis while applying your SQL skills to real business problems where the answer is not always obvious from the data.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct alert testing and calibration, including ATL/BTL analysis, to evaluate existing alert thresholds and criteria and identify potential opportunities for improvement.

• Work directly with Supervision SMEs to understand alert objectives, business rules, supervisory considerations, and historical outcomes and use that knowledge to develop thoughtful analyses.

• Determine the data needed to answer business and testing questions and work with SMEs, data owners, and technology partners to obtain the appropriate data.

• Use SQL to extract, prepare, combine, and analyze data from approved data sources, including AWS Redshift and other data environments.

• Dig into Supervision data to identify trends, anomalies, concentrations, and other meaningful insights and investigate what may be driving the results.

• Turn analytical results into clear findings and present them to SMEs and other stakeholders, including potential recommendations for threshold, criteria, or other changes when supported by the analysis.

• Evaluate data quality as part of the analytical process, investigate potential inconsistencies or gaps, assess how they may affect the results, and recommend improvements when appropriate.

• Use approved AI-assisted and other analytical tools, where appropriate, to support data exploration and analysis, identify patterns, and develop insights while appropriately validating results.

• Develop reports, presentations, and visualizations that help tell the story behind the data and clearly communicate what the analysis is showing and why it matters, including through Qlik Sense and other visualization tools.

• Apply analytical, data, and problem-solving skills to new projects and business questions as the team’s priorities and capabilities continue to evolve.

What Will Help You Succeed

We are looking for someone who is intellectually curious and willing to dig beyond the initial result. You should be comfortable asking questions, challenging assumptions when the data supports it, and recognizing when additional information is needed before reaching a conclusion.

Success in this role also requires the ability to balance technical analysis with business understanding. You do not need to arrive as an expert in every tool or area of Supervision, but you should be interested in learning the business, developing new analytical capabilities, and explaining complex findings in a way that is useful to others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using data to answer business questions and identify meaningful trends, patterns, and anomalies.

• Experience using SQL to query, join, aggregate, prepare, and analyze data. Experience with AWS Redshift or a similar data platform is preferred.

• Experience working with data from multiple sources and translating analytical results into clear business insights.

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience developing clear and professional PowerPoint presentations.

• Experience with Qlik Sense, Tableau, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools is preferred. Candidates with strong analytical skills and an interest in developing Qlik Sense capabilities will also be considered.

• Experience using Python, Pandas, Jupyter notebooks, or similar tools for data analysis and exploration is a plus.

• Experience using AI-assisted tools to support data analysis, exploration, and development of insights is preferred.

• Knowledge of financial services, wealth management, supervision, compliance, risk management, or related areas is preferred but not required.

• Ability to work effectively with SMEs, data owners, and technology partners; communicate analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences; manage multiple priorities; and adapt as new projects and business needs emerge.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Data Analytics or related field [Business Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance] and three (3) years of professional experience.

• Any equivalent combination of experience, education, certifications and/or training.  

Licenses/Certifications:

• Licenses/certifications demonstrating the candidate’s knowledge/expertise in data analytics and/or business intelligence software preferred.
