Data Analyst

Full-Time | Remote

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Insights Research Assistant Director (IAD), the Data Analyst supports the Insights team within our Product Insights department with data deliverables, quality control, top-line reporting, and analysis across assigned projects. You will validate work to ISO 20252 standards and provide day-to-day guidance and quality review of data tasks. This role has no direct reports.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Data Deliverables & Analysis

  • Own crosstabs and data tables, cleaned client data files, organized open-ended data documents, and JMP files for each assigned survey, including building the data sets for JMP conversion.
  • Set up open-ended data analysis, guide open-ended coding deliverables, and code voluntaries as needed.
  • Analyze survey data to identify patterns, outliers, and notable findings, and flag them to the project team.
  • Build top-line reports, support research summary reports, and create Individual Panelist Sheets as needed.

Quality Control & Data Integrity

  • Validate dataset deliverables to ISO 20252 standards before client delivery.
  • Quality-check deliverables from the Data Processor and Insights Research Assistant and give clear, actionable correction feedback.
  • Maintain data integrity, consistency, and documentation throughout each project; troubleshoot issues and escalate risks to the IAD.
  • Test surveys with the Insights Programmer for accuracy, flow, logic, embedding, and piping, and manage survey test links.

Survey Design & Data Planning

  • Support survey architecture before programming so the design aligns with research objectives.
  • Partner with the IAD on data plans (what data is due to whom, when, and with which client breakouts) and develop analysis plans covering questions, re-codes, and correlations between datasets.
  • Distribute surveys with a working understanding of embedded data, quotas, and complex design options.

Team Support & Coverage

  • Provide day-to-day direction, prioritization, and technical guidance to the Data Processor.
  • Serve as backup for the data-side work of the Insights Research Assistant and Data Processor, and step in on project tracking, FMP entry, and study documentation as needed.
  • Join project kickoffs and check-ins, communicate the status of data tasks, timing, and risks, and make sure internal teams get timely, usable outputs.

Platforms & Continuous Improvement

Use platforms such as CondUX, Qualtrics, SPSS, JMP, and QMOB to meet client needs, stay current on emerging research and data technologies, and contribute to internal technology efforts.

WHAT YOU BRING

Experience

  • Two-year degree or higher in Market Research Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, or equivalent (required).
  • 2+ years of data processing or analyst experience (required); experience producing client-ready data deliverables strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis, statistical methods, and applied problem solving (required).
  • Experience validating dataset deliverables and maintaining data quality standards (ISO 20252 familiarity preferred, not required).
  • Experience supporting several research projects at once and partnering with technical teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with at least one analytical tool such as JMP, SPSS, R, Python, or SAS.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficiency with CRM programs, Qualtrics or similar survey tools, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint), internet, and email. JMP or SPSS familiarity is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including sorting, grouping, and summarizing large data sets accurately.
  • Strong understanding of survey design (logic, quotas, piping/embedding, complex routing) and data processing workflows (cleaning, tabulation, open-end handling, deliverable formatting).
  • Ability to translate data into clear, accurate written findings for internal and client audiences.
  • Strong task and timeline management, including prioritization, risk identification, and stakeholder communication.
  • Adaptability and a strong aptitude for learning new technologies, including emerging AI tools.
  • Understanding of research methodologies such as conjoint analysis, MaxDiff, sequential monadic testing, message/concept testing, and usage & attitude studies (preferred).

WHO YOU ARE

  • Beyond the technical skills, the right person for this role brings these qualities to the work every day:
  • Works hands-on with data. Manipulates and analyzes data sets using the software above or similar programs.
  • Guides others. Supports less experienced team members while holding high standards for quality and accountability.
  • Thrives in a virtual, fast-paced setting. Self-motivated and works well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Acts with integrity. Uses sound business practices that align with our values.
  • Communicates clearly. Speaks, writes, and listens well, and delivers projects on time.
