Our award-winning program helps employees navigate critical financial decisions from budgeting and benefits elections to equity compensation, home buying, and retirement so they can feel confident about their money and focused at work. Advanced reporting helps our partners understand impact, driving outcomes like reduced financial stress, increased productivity, and improved retention.

We’re building LearnLux with intention. We move quickly, operate with a high bar for quality, and value people who take ownership of their work. If you’re energized by solving new problems, taking accountability, and pushing yourself to do your best work every day, you’ll find this a rewarding environment.

We’re a venture-backed company that has raised over $35M to date and is supported by experienced investors and long-term partners. We’re a growth-focused business building for scale, and we’re excited by the opportunities and challenges that come with that journey.

The Role

We are hiring our first in-house legal team member to support LearnLux’s growth and day-to-day legal needs. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role with meaningful ownership. You will lead commercial contracting, support compliance and risk management, and serve as a key legal partner to the business. You’ll work closely with Sales, Client Success, and leadership to ensure contracts and legal decisions move forward efficiently, thoughtfully, and mitigate LearnLux’s risk.

This role requires someone who can operate with strong judgment and autonomy. You will be expected to make recommendations and decisions independently, reducing reliance on external counsel and minimizing the need for escalation to leadership.

This role is remote within the U.S., with a preference for candidates located near one of our hub locations (NYC or Denver). Occasional in-person collaboration at a hub is expected. This role reports to the COO.

What you’ll ownCommercial Contracting
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements (MSAs, SaaS agreements, NDAs, vendor contracts)
  • Partner directly with clients and internal stakeholders to move deals forward efficiently
  • Provide clear, business-oriented recommendations on contract terms, risks, and tradeoffs
  • Maintain and improve contract templates, fallback language, and negotiation frameworks
Compliance, Risk, and Policy
  • Support company compliance efforts across privacy, employment, and general business operations
  • Conduct legal research and translate findings into clear, actionable guidance
  • Develop and maintain internal policies and processes that support scalable growth
Legal Operations & Ownership
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for legal questions across the business
  • Improve legal workflows, documentation, and processes to increase efficiency
  • Manage and leverage external counsel where appropriate, while owning final outputs and recommendations
Business Partnership
  • Build a strong understanding of LearnLux’s products, clients, and regulatory environment
  • Act as a pragmatic advisor, balancing legal risk with business objectives
  • Enable the business to move quickly while maintaining an appropriate risk posture
You should bring
  • JD and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (multiple states preferred)
  • About 8–12 years of experience, including:
    • Strong commercial contracting experience (SaaS/tech preferred)
    • Experience supporting high-growth or startup environments
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a solo or first legal hire
  • Experience with global legal/compliance issues (directly or via managing outside counsel)
  • Strong business judgment and ability to balance risk with growth
  • Enjoys being hands-on while also thinking strategically
It would be great if you also
  • Experience with data privacy/security (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
  • Background in fintech, benefits, healthcare, or regulated industries
  • Experience supporting international expansion or entity setup
LearnLux is a fit for you if you
  • Thrive in fast-moving environments and enjoy building in moments of change. We operate with urgency, and roles, priorities, and approaches evolve as we grow.
  • Like wearing multiple hats and helping define the path forward. At LearnLux, roles evolve as we grow, and employees often help create clarity, structure, and direction where it didn’t previously exist.
  • Take initiative and don’t wait to be asked. You see problems as opportunities and are comfortable stepping in to move work forward.
  • Are energized by ambiguity and willing to make decisions with imperfect information. We learn quickly by doing, and pace is a competitive advantage for us.
  • Enjoy being hands-on and owning work end to end. While strategic thinking matters, execution, follow-through, and accountability are what drive impact here.
  • Are motivated by high standards and continuous improvement. As we hit new milestones, we intentionally raise the bar on quality, ownership, and outcomes.
  • Value clear, frequent communication and collaboration. As a remote team, staying aligned through proactive communication is core to how we operate.
