Description

Capital Technology Group (CTG) is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Controller to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, relevant experience in the Government Contracting space, and a proactive mindset. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow with the company and take on a wide range of responsibilities. The Controller will oversee project accounting, financial reporting, tax coordination, and internal accounting process improvement.

This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC area.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, AP, AR, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Oversee project-based accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of job costs and alignment with government contract requirements
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis efforts
  • Ensure compliance with federal contracting requirements and DCAA standards
  • Coordinate tax filings and serve as a liaison with external accountants
  • Work cross-functionally with project managers, operations, and leadership
  • Contribute to financial strategy and planning discussions
  • Help improve and streamline financial systems and processes
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for DCAA audits
  • Calculate and monitor indirect cost rates and ensure accurate application to projects
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition aligned with GovCon standards and contract types
  • Oversee accurate and timely government billing in accordance with FAR regulations
  • Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Partner with IT and finance teams to implement or optimize ERP/accounting systems tailored for GovCon (e.g., Deltek Costpoint)

Requirements

  • Based in the Washington, DC metro area (DMV); hybrid schedule
  • Ability to obtain and hold a US government (USG) security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business with an Accounting focus/ minor
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience
  • Experience with job cost accounting
  • Prior Government Contracting experience
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information
  • Eagerness to learn and ability to take on new challenges independently
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice to Have:

  • CPA or working toward CPA
  • Tax experience and coordination with third-party providers

Salary Information:

We are committed to offering a competitive salary for this position, with an estimated range of $120K to $160K annually. Please note that this range is intended to provide a general idea of what to expect. The final offer may vary based on experience, skills, and other factors.
