About the Role
Northbeam is seeking a Controller to join our rapidly growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of financial risk management. You will not just own the books; the role will be wide-ranging and offer the opportunity to influence controls, process, and decisions across the organization. The candidate will work directly with senior leadership to drive financial strategy and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards.
Your Impact
Accounting & Reporting
- Lead accounting operations, including G/L, A/R, A/P, payroll, and revenue recognition
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and other relevant accounting standards, especially ASC 606 (SaaS revenue recognition) and ASC 718 (stock compensation)
- Own the financial close process and deliver accurate financial statements
- Prepare internal and board-level financial reporting
- Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel
- Build and maintain accounting policies
- Keep current on evolving regulations and advise the company on compliance initiatives
Financial Infrastructure & Systems
- Implement and improve scalable accounting systems and controls
- Build and document processes and controls to support operational efficiency
- Automate workflows to reduce manual processes and improve accuracy
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Prepare annual budgets and rolling forecasts with a focus on cashflow management
- Monitor budget variance reporting and recommend corrective actions
- Support SaaS-specific metrics tracking: ARR, churn, CAC, LTV, gross margin, net revenue retention, etc.
What You Bring
- 6–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- Deep understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and controls
- Prior ownership of external audit, tax, and compliance in a SaaS setting
- Experiencing leading system transitions and implementations
- CPA license or equivalent experience
Bonus Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience in high-growth, venture or PE backed companies
- Experience working with QuickBooks Online, Rillet, Abacum, Anrok, and Stripe
- Familiarity with investor and board-level reporting
- Strong knowledge of customer operations and management of the order to cash cycle
