Overview

FMI’s Strategy Practice is seeking a high-energy, motivated Consultant to join its growing Energy & Power team. FMI partners with leading organizations across the built environment to deliver strategic insights, drive growth, and solve complex business challenges.

The Consultant supports the delivery of client engagements, connecting research and data to client-ready insights and recommendations. Working under the direction of a Senior Consultant, Engagement Manager, or Principal, this individual will help drive workstream execution, contribute to client sessions, and build the project management and delivery skills needed to take on increasing ownership over time.

This is a full-time opportunity with potential locations in Raleigh, NC; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Tampa, FL; or remote. Travel is approximately 35%, depending on client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support project teams in managing client engagements, tracking key milestones, coordinating communications, and delivering high-quality work against established workplans and timelines
  • Drive assigned workstream execution, incorporating client feedback and observations from prior sessions, and draft meeting and workshop agendas designed to achieve desired outcomes
  • Review and synthesize research and large data sets to identify insights and translate findings into clear, client-ready reports, presentations, and recommendations
  • Prepare and proof client deliverables for accuracy, clarity, and quality, working collaboratively with analysts and project leadership
  • Assist in facilitating client meetings, workshops, and workstream sessions, helping build consensus, maintain focus, encourage productive discussion, and drive alignment
  • Contribute to solutions that improve consistency of execution, operational discipline, organizational effectiveness, and financial results, and support clients through implementation and change adoption efforts
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, FMI’s Client Manager, and other stakeholders on assigned workstream activities and serve as a resource for the client team between sessions
  • Build strong client relationships and growing expertise in energy and power sector topics, actively listening for client needs and escalating opportunities to appropriate project leadership
  • Contribute to the growth of the Energy & Power practice through research, thought leadership, internal innovation, speaking events, article research, and development of practice collateral

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; master’s degree preferred
  • 2–4 years of experience in consulting or a related field; energy sector exposure is a plus
  • Experience working with a variety of internal or external stakeholders, particularly in strategy, change, or capital project environments
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to synthesize large, disparate data sets and connect research to client-ready insights and recommendations
  • Project management skills, including stakeholder management, deliverable tracking, schedule adherence, and budget awareness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, facilitation, and listening skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships with a high level of empathy and professionalism
  • Superior organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, projects, client needs, and team priorities
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with minimal direction and supervision
  • Proficiency across Microsoft Office; Power Apps, Tableau, and/or Power BI experience preferred
  • Demonstrated maturity and the ability to perform effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member

 

Compensation & Benefits:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $92,500–$107,500. This position is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus based on individual and company performance.
