About the role

The Compliance Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our compliance program. They will act as a trusted collaborator across the organization, ensuring compliance with all complex and evolving healthcare regulations. The Compliance Manager will be a key strategic partner in our continual improvement of Equip’s compliance and risk management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough compliance investigations into policy violations and state or federal regulatory breaches, including HIPAA, privacy, and fraud-related cases.

  • Proactively identify and assess compliance risks by reviewing internal departmental processes, new product initiatives, and changing state/federal regulatory landscapes.

  • Develop key risk indicators and continuous monitoring programs to evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies.

  • Provide clear, actionable, and solution-oriented guidance to individual personnel, clinical leaders, and executive stakeholders regarding complex regulatory statutes and industry standards.

  • Partner closely with internal policy owners to write, design, and update comprehensive operational policies that address key organizational risks.

  • Coordinate directly with regulatory bodies, payor entities, and legal counsel to support external accreditations, payor audits, and overall risk management.

  • Design and deliver highly interactive, engaging compliance training and presentations for patient-facing teams, translating dense clinical compliance and risk management concepts into practical, everyday workflows.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5+ years of healthcare compliance experience, preferably in a high-growth healthcare startup or organization

  • 2+ years of experience conducting, documenting, and resolving complex compliance and privacy investigations.

  • Proven track record of managing external audits, identifying root-cause issues, and driving cross-functional coordination to implement corrective action plans and remediation.

  • Strong functional knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA/HITECH, state Medicaid requirements, OIG guidelines, and corporate corporate compliance standards.

  • Proven ability to apply critical thinking and manage multiple high-priority projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for translating regulations into operational guidance and gaining buy-in as well as cultivating and maintaining relationships.

Work From Home Additional Perks:

  • $50/month stipend added directly to an employee’s paycheck to cover home internet expenses.

  • Initial work-from-home stipend of up to $500.

    • Reload of $200 on the home office stipend at the 3-year mark and then every other year after that (year 5, year 7, etc.).

Physical Demands

Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
