About the Team

Join the compiler team responsible for the industry-leading Intel Fortran compiler. This position is perfect for individuals who thrive on constant learning, diving deep into complex problems, and collaborating with a seasoned, responsive, and highly productive team.

Position Overview

This role focuses on the development and maintenance of the Intel Fortran compiler front-end and run-time library. You will contribute to advancing compiler capabilities in alignment with modern Fortran standards and parallel processing directives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing syntax and semantic processing support, generating LLVM IR, and creating RTL routines for new features from the Fortran standard (2023 and the upcoming 202x)

  • Adding directives and other OpenMP features that improve optimizations of Fortran source code

  • Working to improve the use of pre-compiled module facilities and interfaces

  • Maintaining the Intel Fortran compiler front-end and run-time library

  • Resolving inquiries from customers, support engineers, and internal users

Qualifications:

You must possess the minimum qualifications below to be initially considered for this position. Additional qualifications and preferred skills are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with 3+ years of experience, or a Master's Degree with 2+ years of experience, enhancing and maintaining compiler software and/or software development tools

  • Must be fluent in C and C++, familiar with other compiled and scripting languages, and able to work on Linux and Windows

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the LLVM project and LLVM IR generation

  • Experience with OpenMP and/or other parallel processing methodologies

  • Familiarity with the Fortran programming language, especially modern language features from Fortran 2003, 2008, 2018, and 2023

  • Experience reading and/or participating in the development of language standards

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working with a team of engineers on a project from inception to completion

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $128,880.00-211,200.00 USD

The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Work Model for this Role
