The DCC

The mission of Denver County Court is to administer justice fairly, efficiently and effectively; provide excellent customer service, and foster a positive environment where employees enjoy their work. The City and County of Denver’s third branch of government is comprised of 19 judges, 3 full-time magistrates, and 300 staff members. Case types include state, civil, small claims, traffic, criminal, and other general sessions cases within the City and County of Denver. The Denver County Court proudly serves the community and continually seeks ways to incorporate procedural fairness and evidence-based practices.

 

The Division

Denver County Court administers several specialty courts and programs, including the community Outreach Court, Recovery Court, Competency Diversion, Competency Support Docket, Forensic Peer Support Team and Sobriety Court. Denver County Court continuously explores best practices in addressing the underlying needs of individuals in the civil and criminal justice system, and works tirelessly to remove barriers, and ensure access to services in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

 

What You'll Do

Denver County Court Competency Programming is seeking a Case Coordinator to join the team.

 

Competency Case Coordinators will work as part of the creation of a Municipal Competency Docket and Behavioral Health track. The Coordinator will coordinate and work in collaboration with the Program Manager, stakeholders across the criminal justice system, case managers, and treatment providers to support court programming and program participants. The Judicial Assistant will primarily focus on data collection and performing duties to effectuate program procedures. This position reports directly to the Program Manager.

As a Competency Case Coordinator, you can expect to:

  • Collect, enter, track, and manage program data, including: receiving case and program referrals – receiving daily competency filings at Municipal and State levels - enter into tracking system, update outcomes of competency hearings and evaluations
  • Apply and interpret court records and case terminology to data entry and tracking and case management
  • Ensure legal requirements are met; maintain data integrity of case information by performing quality control and audit functions
  • Coordinate efforts with program stakeholders and community providers for client evaluation, case status, and release planning
  • Collaborate with court personnel, attorneys, behavioral health providers, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support participant and program success.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, and evaluation skills to assess program needs in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of standard office technology: Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task in a high-paced work environment
  • Experience working with individuals who have justice system involvement and behavioral health needs
  • Knowledge of community resources, programs, and services available to assist individuals with behavioral health needs
  • Ability to work effectively on a team and with multi-disciplinary stakeholders and service providers
  • Data entry and management experience
  • Knowledge or experience with the legal competency process as it pertains to the court
  • Knowledge or experience of the criminal court process and court databases

 

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience supporting human services, social services, and/or public health programs
  • Education and Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
