About UpDoc

At UpDoc, we are building the first clinically validated, physician-supervised AI agent that manages chronic diseases. We are an early-stage startup founded by Stanford physicians.

We are seeking a Clinical Product Lead (MD) to own the clinical design and help drive development of UpDoc’s AI-enabled chronic disease products. This is a hands-on product role for a physician with strong clinical judgment and product instincts.

This is a remote role.

Who You Are

You’re an experienced physician who thinks like a product builder. You can take an ambiguous clinical problem, determine how the product should address it, make thoughtful tradeoffs, and work with a cross-functional team to ship it. You’re comfortable being the clinical decision-maker for the areas you own and excited to work hands-on with AI systems.

What You'll Do
  • Own the clinical design of the product areas you lead, including care pathways, interventions, escalation criteria, safety boundaries, and expected system behavior.

  • Drive clinical product initiatives from problem definition through launch and iteration, translating clinical needs into product requirements, acceptance criteria, and product decisions.

  • Work hands-on with UpDoc’s AI agent, reviewing conversations and clinical trajectories, identifying failure modes, and defining how the system should behave.

  • Partner closely with product, engineering, design, and clinical colleagues to drive cross-functional execution of the initiatives you own.

  • Evaluate product performance and help shape the clinical product roadmap, using feedback, data, and real-world clinical needs to guide improvements.

What You'll Need
  • MD or DO degree, completion of residency training, and board certification or eligibility.

  • Meaningful direct patient-care experience and strong clinical judgment.

  • Experience in healthcare technology, digital health, clinical software, or technology-enabled care.

  • Strong product judgment and demonstrated ability to turn clinical problems into practical product decisions.

  • Experience working closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Data, or other technical teams.

  • Comfort working hands-on in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.

Highly Desired
  • Experience owning or building a healthcare product or significant product feature.

  • Experience in an early-stage digital health, healthcare technology, or AI company.

  • Experience with AI-enabled clinical products, generative AI, LLMs, or clinical decision support.

  • Experience in chronic disease management, primary care, cardiometabolic health, or longitudinal care.

  • Clinical informatics, EHR, or healthcare interoperability experience.
