Summary:
The Project Manager / Scrum Master at MediaNews Group is responsible for the flow of work through product development and acts as a servant leader and coach for an agile team. You will lead the team via agile practices, ensuring that agreed-to process is followed. You will also remove impediments and foster high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and constant improvement. In a larger project management context, you will be responsible for balancing the competing needs of scope, schedule and cost, while uncovering and monitoring risks. Finally, the Project Manager keeps stakeholders apprised of the status of a project or ongoing product development and is highly visible throughout the organization.

You will be running a scrum team, and playing the role of project manager on a larger program as needed. The ideal candidate isn't afraid of deadlines, can assert themselves when necessary, and isn't shy about addressing tough issues when they arise. In this role you will be working with a team that focuses on digital subscriptions, including paywall features, enhanced subscriber benefits and other revenue-related features. This team iterates often as it test ideas and features, so flexibility and the ability to embrace a fast paced environment are key.
What you will do:
Apply agile and occasional waterfall methodologies and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices to initiatives from idea to launch and beyond, while ensuring alignment with SDLC standards and company strategy
Lead all aspects of the project including planning, execution, timely delivery, functionality, quality, issue tracking and communication
Accountable for project delivery to: PMO, business owner, stakeholders
Create the initial project planning documentation, including assumptions / constraints, measures of success, quality measures, risk, mitigation plans, issues, dependencies, schedules and change control strategy
Report progress, risks, and issues to management and project stakeholders. Track risks, risk mitigation, known issues, change requests and change impact in a written format, and work to resolve blockers to completion
Use tracking tools to provide status and progress updates
Contribute to Scrum of Scrums and the Project Management Community of Practice
Lead by facilitation using standard scrum and scaled agile methodologies
Enforce the priorities of the work to be performed. Priority determined with product owner via the business owner and project stakeholders. Obtain product manager and client sign-off on key project deliverables
Conduct the post-project review/lessons learned discussion
Draft and create project archives and process improvement plans based on lessons learned and retrospectives. Implement approved plans
Add project documentation to the repository for use in other projects
What you will bring:
Project Management platform familiarity (Jira, Trello, Asana, etc.)
Web technology platform knowledge preferred
Agile project management training and at least 2 years of experience
Previous project management experience
Experience in digital media preferred
PMP, CSM certification preferred
BA/BS required
Benefits and Compensation:
The salary range is $95,000 - $105,000. This role is eligible for a bonus based on performance. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
