Solid Power is seeking a Chief of Staff to the Chief Executive Officer (CoS) to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‐generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a public company with a dynamic, fast‐paced, and highly collaborative environment where innovation thrives.

The Chief of Staff (CoS) to the CEO is a trusted strategic and operational partner who amplifies the CEO’s effectiveness and accelerates execution of enterprise priorities. Operating with high judgment and discretion, the CoS ensures that strategy, decisions, and communications translate into sustained action across the organization. This role functions as a force multiplier for the CEO—improving decision velocity, organizational alignment, and execution rigor in a complex public company environment.

The CoS is not a functional executive, decision-maker, or spokesperson, but operates through influence, clarity, and deep trust with the CEO and executive leadership team. It is not primarily an administrative or scheduling position, and it does not replace or assume ownership of program management, HR, or finance responsibilities. Instead, the role exists to complement these functions by enabling alignment, clarity, and effective execution at the enterprise level.

The preferred candidate demonstrates strong strategic and systems thinking, with the ability to see patterns across the enterprise and connect complex, disparate issues. They bring execution rigor by translating discussion into clear decisions and driving those decisions into action. Comfortable exercising sound judgment under uncertainty, they make informed choices and stand behind them even with imperfect information. They communicate with clarity and influence, authentically representing the CEO’s voice, while consistently earning trust through discretion and the highest standards of integrity. As a change leader, they challenge the status quo and enable new, more effective ways of working across the organization.

Job Duties:

Drive the CEO Agenda and Enterprise Priorities

  • Partner with the CEO to identify, structure, and drive critical strategic and transformational initiatives.
  • Translate CEO intent into clear priorities, milestones, owners, and follow-through across the enterprise.
  • Ensure the CEO’s time and attention are focused on the highest-value issues.

Executive Operating Cadence and Decision Effectiveness

  • Shape CEO staff meetings, offsites, and executive forums to be decision-oriented rather than presentation-heavy.
  • Clarify decision rights, tradeoffs, and escalation paths; track decisions through execution.
  • Surface risks, bottlenecks, and misalignment early.

Cross-Functional Alignment and Execution

  • Act as a neutral enterprise integrator across functions and businesses.
  • Drive progress on initiatives that span multiple teams or lack clear ownership.
  • Reduce organizational friction while maintaining accountability.

Strategic Narrative and CEO Communications

  • Partner with the CEO to shape clear, consistent narratives for employees, leaders, investors, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Distill complex business and technical topics into concise, actionable insights.
  • Reinforce key messages and decisions through effective follow-up.

Organizational Insight and Sensing

  • Build feedback loops to identify emerging risks, opportunities, and organizational pain points.
  • Provide candid, actionable counsel to the CEO and executive team.
  • Ensure leadership actions remain aligned with culture, values, and strategy.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • MBA required, with a strong preference for candidates holding an undergraduate degree in Engineering or other STEM related disciplines.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, program leadership, or senior business roles.
  • Experience operating in complex, matrixed, and highly visible environments (public company preferred).
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated judgment, discretion, and integrity.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and incomplete information.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to spend prolonged periods of time sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to spend prolonged periods standing or walking in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required, including but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, lab coats, coveralls, face mask, full-face respirator or PAPR.

Salary Range: $180,000 - $230,000/year

Benefits: Solid Power offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical/dental/vision insurance, employer paid Life/AD&D/STD/LTD insurance, 401k with company match, 8 paid holidays + the week between Christmas and New Years off, Unlimited PTO, up to six (6) weeks paid FMLA leave, cell phone reimbursement and eligibility to participate in our bonus and equity plans.

Export Control Requirements: This position could require access to technology, software and other information that is subject to governmental access control restrictions, due to export controls. Employment in this position is conditioned on the continued availability of government authorization to authorize release of such items, to the extent required, including without limitation an export license, or other documentation required to establish authorization to receive access to such items.

Company may delay commencement of employment, rescind an offer of employment, terminate employment, and/or may modify job responsibilities, compensation, benefits, and/or access to Company facilities and information systems, as Company deems appropriate, in order to ensure compliance with applicable government access control restrictions.

This position will be posted for a minimum of 7 days and will remain open until filled or adjusted based on the volume of applicants.

All offers of employment at Solid Power are contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.

Please no soliciting from staffing agencies. Thank you!

The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
