Caring Ministries Director

Full-Time | Benefits Eligible | Sunday-Thursday with on-call availability

First Presbyterian Church is seeking a Caring Ministries Director to help lead and shape a culture of care as we live out our mission to be Light + Life for the City.

This role blends strategic leadership with pastoral presence, equipping teams, building care systems, and walking alongside individuals and families through seasons of need, grief, and transition.

Position Overview

The Caring Ministries Director leads teams grounded in faith to compassionately care for the congregation and fulfills the strategic vision for care-related ministry programs of First Presbyterian Church.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Caring Ministries Pastor, oversee Caring Ministries initiatives and care systems
  • Serve as staff advisor to the Board of Deacons and volunteer teams
  • Coordinate memorial services and support grieving families
  • Oversee care programs such as Growing Through Grief
  • Meet with individuals seeking prayer, care, or assistance
  • Participate in hospital visits, counseling, and pastoral care
  • Recruit, train, and support care ministry volunteers
  • Collaborate with staff on ministry goals, planning, and initiatives
  • Participate in worship leadership and churchwide efforts

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry, counseling, social work, or related field (required)
  • Master’s degree in related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in pastoral care, ministry leadership, or similar field
  • Experience leading teams and working within a church or nonprofit setting
