Please note: This is a remote position, but occasional work onsite at our Global Ministry Center in Colorado Springs, CO will be required. Preference will be given to local candidates. 

 

Overview 

This Business Support Specialist provides professional-level business support for Operational Excellence and the broader Business Support team. The role serves as a trusted partner to leaders and stakeholders by providing executive support, operational coordination, and administrative expertise that help teams work effectively and achieve organizational priorities. Success in this role requires operational awareness, systems aptitude, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a service-oriented mindset. The ideal candidate is service-oriented, enjoys helping others succeed, building trusted relationships, creating clarity, reducing barriers, and bringing people, information, processes, and systems together to move work forward.

As a member of the Operational Excellence leadership team, this specialist contributes both as a strategic support partner and an active participant in advancing team and departmental objectives while promoting a healthy culture, supporting collaboration, and leveraging modern tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to improve efficiency, insight, communication, and business outcomes. At this career level, the incumbent generally works independently on assigned responsibilities, contributes to larger initiatives and projects, and may provide guidance or expertise to other specialists and support staff. 

What will you do? 

 

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 

  • Act as an advocate for children. Understand and advance Christ's mandate to protect children. Take active steps to help protect against neglect, abuse, and exploitation of children. 

  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors. 

  • Provide executive leader and leadership team with administrative support, including calendar management and travel management. Act as a delegate for expense reporting and invoice approval, while also supporting other leadership priorities. 

  • Coordinate logistics for team events and meetings, handling details such as RSVPs, travel accommodations, meals, and onsite logistics to ensure smooth execution through detailed planning and post-event follow-up. 

  • Maintain and update team resources including branded templates, shared files, internal distribution lists, onboarding materials, and management of group calendar. Serve as teams go-to resource for accessibility and alignment, ensuring timely access to the right tools and resources. 

  • Reviews business processes and identifies activities required to address the issues, including process steps and impact assessment to increase productivity and efficiency. Prepares supporting documentation such as presentations, future state maps, and business requirements.  

  • Contributes to the department budget and tracks expenditures and variances to keep the department in budget. Informs management of variances and corrective recommendations. 

  • May perform or support department specific duties sometimes related to other job subfamilies such as, business systems, marketing plans, data analysis, basic procurement, tours and events, basic human resources, basic accounting, simple facilities requests, program development, and other operational support activities. Maintains working knowledge of business systems and tools used to support Operational Excellence and Business Support functions and serves as a resource to stakeholders by troubleshooting issues and identifying process improvements. 

  • Gathers basic business data such as project costs or process metrics, analyzes the information, and presents reports based on this analysis. Serves as a project manager for small to medium-sized projects to maintain progress toward established goals and deadlines. 

  • Prepares and relays communications concerning business operations, project updates, leadership messaging, and outcomes to appropriate audiences. Further, supports change integration across projects within the scope of own work. Works to identify change adoption across common audiences as needed. 

  • Trains and advises stakeholders on processes and guidelines related to the group or program projects. May liaise between assigned department and other neighbors. 

  • Provides meaningful input into the development of effective metrics for ministry operations and maintains data/metrics, dashboards, tools, and artifacts to provide up-to-date status of group projects, processes, and initiatives. 

  • May develop or contribute to new programs to improve neighbor morale or relations, ministry success, and community stewardship. 

  • Partners with other groups when required to integrate information and processes across functions. 

  • Provides individual contributions and occasional support to various projects as assigned in support of the work of Business Support management. May contribute ideas, insights, and operational perspectives as a member of the Operational Excellence leadership team. 

  • Leverages Microsoft Copilot and other approved technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness in business support functions, including drafting communications, summarizing information, analyzing data, generating insights, and streamlining routine administrative tasks while ensuring accuracy, data privacy, and adherence to organizational standards. 

  • May provide expertise to other professionals and support staff in their work group.
