This consultant will partner closely with business, operational, finance, and technology stakeholders to understand how work is performed today, document end-to-end processes, identify inefficiencies and control gaps, and develop a prioritized roadmap for improvement.

The ideal candidate combines strong business process engineering and process mapping expertise with hands-on experience assessing complex cross-functional processes. This individual should be comfortable facilitating stakeholder workshops, interviewing process owners and subject matter experts, evaluating systems and controls, and translating findings into practical recommendations with clear business impact.

This is a short term consulting engagement of 8 weeks and will be paid on a 1099 hourly basis.  Candidates must be able to work Central Time hours, have the ability to travel up to 50%, and be fully authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship or transfer. Please note that we do not work C2C.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery sessions, workshops, and interviews with key stakeholders, process owners, and subject matter experts.
  • Observe and document how processes are currently performed across Operations, Order to Cash, and Procure to Pay.
  • Develop detailed current-state process maps using swim lane methodology to illustrate activities, ownership, handoffs, decision points, systems, and dependencies.
  • Document roles and responsibilities across each process.
  • Assess key systems, data flows, reports, controls, and process handoffs.
  • Review existing process documentation, procedures, controls, reports, and supporting materials.
  • Identify manual activities, process bottlenecks, unnecessary handoffs, redundancies, and areas of process complexity.
  • Identify process gaps, operational inefficiencies, risks, and control weaknesses.
  • Evaluate opportunities to simplify, standardize, streamline, or redesign processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cross-functional coordination, process ownership, controls, data flow, and operational visibility.
  • Develop an inventory of process improvement opportunities across the assessed functions.
  • Categorize opportunities into quick wins and longer-term initiatives.
  • Assess the potential business impact of recommended improvements.
  • Prioritize recommendations based on factors such as business value, risk, complexity, and implementation considerations.
  • Translate assessment findings into clear, actionable recommendations for business and leadership stakeholders.
  • Develop a prioritized process improvement roadmap outlining recommended initiatives and sequencing.
  • Clearly communicate the rationale, expected impact, dependencies, and considerations associated with proposed improvements.

  • Experience using process mapping tools (i.e. Microsoft Visio) preferred.
  • Experience assessing Order to Cash (O2C) and/or Procure to Pay (P2P) processes.
  • Strong understanding of cross-functional business processes, including systems, data, controls, reporting, roles, and handoffs.

  • Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder interviewing skills.
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of qualitative and quantitative information into concise findings and actionable recommendations.
