What We Offer 

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The expected starting pay for this position is $26.84 - $33.55/hour, based on experience and education.

We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but is not limited to:  

  • A guaranteed life-long monthly pension, once vested after 5 years of service

  • 140 hours of PTO earned within first year + 12 paid holidays, 1 personal holiday, 1 Wellness Day and 1 volunteer day per year

Location  

The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the community several days a week. In this position you can expect to work on site, three (3) days a week at: Wellington E. Webb Building – 201 W. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80202. 

Please note: Downtown parking expenses are the responsibility of the employee. We offer a flexible spending account option specifically for parking; if you elect this option, you can use pre-tax dollars for parking. We also offer a City-sponsored RTD EcoPass to all City employees– allowing the use of public transportation for free as a City Employee.

This division prioritizes small businesses through 1:1 technical assistance, financing, grants, strategic planning, certification, and connections to additional resources. It also works to attract, retain, and grow businesses in the City and County of Denver. Denver Business Development supports entrepreneurs and startups helping diversify Denver’s economy and build the jobs of the future. It sells Denver on the global stage as a destination for businesses to launch or expand operations, and takes benefit from the city’s highly-educated and talented workforce. The division also serves Denver’s minority and women-owned businesses through small business certification, ensuring opportunity for priority businesses.

DEDO is hiring for a full-time, unlimited Business Operations Liaison for Chief Business Development Officer. This position will report to the DEDO’s Business Operations Manager. This position will serve as a trusted partner to executive leadership, providing high-level administrative, operational, and organizational support that enables the successful execution of strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations. You will exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, anticipate organizational needs, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

Executive and Administrative Support

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to executive leadership and division directors by managing complex calendars, coordinating recurring meetings, preparing agendas, and ensuring timely follow-up on action items.
  • Coordinate recurring leadership meetings, budget discussions, strategic planning sessions, partner meetings, and division-wide team meetings while proactively resolving scheduling conflicts.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, correspondence, briefing materials, and other executive-level communications.

Information and Communication Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external inquiries by managing department shared inboxes, directing requests, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain department-wide calendars, including executive office hours, organizational events, holidays, and other agency-wide scheduling needs.
  • Coordinate MS Teams/Zoom webinars and virtual meetings, including technology management, interpreter coordination, recording preparation, and participant support.
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems, reports, and organizational documentation to support executive decision-making and division operations.

Financial and Operational Coordination

  • Coordinate purchasing and payment processes for memberships, sponsorships, event registrations, travel expenses, subscriptions, office supplies, software renewals, and other operational expenditures while ensuring compliance with City policies and procedures.
  • Monitor division expenditures, procurement activities, purchase card transactions, invoices, and operational budgets; prepare financial reports and maintain budget tracking tools for multiple cost centers.
  • Manage office operations by coordinating supply inventories, equipment needs, conference room reservations, years-of-service recognition, and other administrative functions that support efficient business operations.

Program, Event, and Project Coordination

  • Coordinate logistics for official functions, workshops, business development programs, executive meetings, community engagement events, team retreats, trainings, and stakeholder gatherings.
  • Support initiatives such as business attraction programs, legacy business initiatives, international business development efforts, advisory board meetings, and other strategic projects by coordinating purchasing, logistics, scheduling, materials, and communications.
  • Assist leadership with special projects and department-wide initiatives while ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.

Travel Coordination

  • Coordinate complex domestic and international travel arrangements for executives and staff, including airfare, lodging, registrations, passports, visas, travel authorizations, banking notifications, international phone plans, and related travel logistics.
  • Ensure all travel documentation, approvals, and financial processes comply with City policies and timelines.

Reporting and Executive Support

  • Compile, monitor, and maintain executive reports, weekly priority updates, leadership dashboards, budget summaries, membership and sponsorship tracking, and other operational metrics.
  • Track deadlines, monitor action items, and provide executive leadership with timely information to support strategic planning and organizational decision-making.
  • Recommend and implement administrative processes that improve efficiency, consistency, and customer service across the division.

Relationship Management

  • Build collaborative relationships with City agencies, community organizations, vendors, business partners, and internal stakeholders to support division goals and executive priorities.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment while representing executive leadership and the department in a positive and professional manner.
  • Assist as needed with agency project deadlines and reports with a team-based approach.

  • Administrative support proficiency using MS Office Suite, Workday for procurement, finance, position management, and human resources transactions. Salesforce to manage customer relationship data, generate reports, maintain records, and support business development or operational activities. Budget tracking, procurement card (P-Card), travel card (T-Card), and accounts payable processes.
  • Executive leadership support experience within a government, public sector, or highly regulated organization.
  • Ability to manage Zoom Webinar administration, including webinar setup, technical management, and interpreter coordination.
  • Experience coordinating international travel logistics, including passport, visa, and travel authorization requirements.
  • Experience developing and maintaining executive dashboards, tracking systems, or operational reports. Experience supporting business development, economic development, or executive leadership teams with complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • A strong collaborative and team-focused mindset, where being adaptable, ease with fast paced and versatile cross-functional mobilization are strong suits.  
  • Experience with working at ease with VIP guests, visitors and foreign dignitaries.
  • Strong familiarity with Denver businesses and the local Denver ecosystem and stakeholders.  
  • Professionalism and engagement. Strong desire and preferred experience working with C-suite-level and international businesses.

Required Minimum Qualifications 

  • Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of administrative/secretarial experience which must include one (1) year of experience at the type and level providing support to a manager responsible for large, complex divisions or the highest level manager of a small organization.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
  • License/Certifications: None
