About the role

Hex is looking for a Brand Designer with exceptional visual instincts, strong opinions, and a particular love of illustration, image-making, expressive graphic design.

We’re a group of makers and conceptual thinkers. We like people who draw, build, collage, photograph, animate, prototype, collect strange references, obsess over type, or find some other way to make an idea tangible. We’re less interested in staying neatly inside the lines of “brand design” than in finding people with real visual curiosity and a point of view. Weirdos encouraged.

You’ll help us build the next chapter of the Hex brand: taking a precise visual system and finding all the surprising, human and memorable things we can make within it. You’ll work across campaigns, launches, events, editorial, social, web and whatever strange new thing we decide to make next.

This is a generalist brand design role, but we’re especially excited by people who create rather than simply arrange. Someone comfortable making an illustration, inventing a visual metaphor, developing a concept, building a campaign world, experimenting with a new medium, or pushing a graphic system somewhere we didn’t expect it to go.

You should also be excited by the challenge of making a complex product feel simple, compelling and a little magical. That might mean abstracting a technical capability into one sharp visual idea, developing a new graphic language for a product story, or finding a way to communicate what Hex does thoughtfully.

Mostly, we’re looking for someone who likes making things, likes thinking in ideas, and wants to help build a brand with enough structure to hold together and enough room to get weird.

What you’ll do
  • Concept and design brand campaigns, product launches and creative moments.

  • Help evolve the Hex visual identity and establish new patterns within the system.

  • Develop illustration, image-making and graphic approaches that become recognisable parts of the Hex brand.

  • Design across web, events, social, editorial, customer stories, swag (we love it!) campaigns and physical brand moments.

  • Create reusable systems and assets rather than solving every brief from scratch.

  • Partner closely with your pals on the brand, Product Marketing, Content, Events and Growth.

  • Art direct illustrators, motion designer and production partners when needed.

  • Move comfortably between early concept exploration and meticulous final execution.

  • Contribute to critiques and help push the quality of the wider team’s work.

About you
  • You are a brand designer with a portfolio full of strong ideas and beautifully made work.

  • You have particular strength in illustration, image-making, art direction or another expressive visual craft.

  • You understand systems but do not believe every piece of work needs to look identical.

  • You have excellent typography and composition instincts.

  • You like showing work early, exploring widely and then refining with intention.

  • You can work independently without disappearing into a cave for three weeks.

  • You care about culture, design, some strange wee side project and visual references outside of B2B software.

  • You are comfortable moving quickly and know when something needs perfection versus when it simply needs to ship.

  • You’re collaborative, low-ego and excited to build a brand with other strong creatives.

  • Again with the weird, we love a wee weirdo!

The salary range for this role is: $140,000-$190,000

In addition to our unique culture, Hex proudly offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched salary & equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible paid time off.

The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we’re open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience. Our Recruiting team will be able to provide more details during the interview process.
