What We OfferThe City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. While the full salary range for this position is $22.53 - $33.55/hour, the hiring range is $24.00 - $28.00/hour, based on experience and education.

The Denver Clerk & Recorder’s office is located at 200 W. 14th Ave., immediately south of the City & County Building. Office hours are typically 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Dependent on business needs, some roles have remote work and flexible schedule options with manager approval.
What You’ll DoThe Denver Clerk & Recorder is seeking an accomplished public servant to serve as a Bilingual Voter Services Lead Assistant. In this position, you will lead work within the Voter Services team, overseeing and training on-call staff, and providing information to staff and the public regarding election procedures and regulations.
Responsibilities- Lead Denver’s user management program for access to the voter registration database, providing technical assistance for users and resolving system access problems.
- Lead voter registration activities within the Denver County jails, including the processing and tracking of voter registration forms from jail visits.
- Serve constituents in English and Spanish via phone, email, and at the Elections Front Counter, which includes serving as a Notary Public.
- Develop and implement a process for certifying poll watchers during each election.
- Create and distribute the daily, internal election information newsletter.
- Perform regular data entry and quality control measures within the statewide voter registration database, including supporting Denver’s correspondence program, voter registration list maintenance activities, and the Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) program.
- Provide work instruction and training for temporary Voter Services staff and assisting these employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments.
- Support election activities of the Voter Services team, including the Election Call Center, VSPC Hotline, and In Person Audit. Provide recommendations for staffing needed to perform Voter Services functions during various phases of the election cycle.
- Recommend consistent procedure standards and contributes to the development and revision of standard operating procedures for the Voter Services team.
- Resolves problems encountered during daily operations and recommends consistent standards.
- Oversee the appropriate storage of elections documents and provides input into long-term records storage.
- Act as a subject matter expert in elections and voter registration by continuously reviewing Colorado election laws and rules to ensure compliance and to inform the public.
- Complete and maintain annual Election Official Certification through the Colorado Department of State.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Our ideal candidate will have some or all of the following:
- At least one (1) years of experience working in elections
- Excellent analytical, writing, verbal communication, reasoning, time management, and troubleshooting skills
- Experience working with diverse communities, including a comfort level working in jail settings
- Ability to build, maintain, and foster positive working relationships with people of diverse perspectives and motivations
- Friendly customer services skills and a desire to work with the public
- A commitment to providing secure, transparent, and accessible elections administration
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information consistent with applicable federal, state and county rules and regulations
- Knowledge of election laws, statutes, processes and procedures
- Data entry experience with a high attention to detail
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
- Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of office support experience, including two years at the type and level of an Elections Technician.
- Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
- License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
