Who You’ll Work With:
The Software Engineer provides hands-on coding and design in an n-tier environment with .NET (C#) used for the UI and middle tier layer, and SQL Server as the database. The candidate’s primary responsibility includes designing UI features, enhancing or creating new API calls, implementing complex financial logic, interfacing with various internal/external systems, and efficiently developing in the database. The team is small, efficient and works in an agile manner. Projects are done in teams as well as individually, and there are lively discussions about design. The EIMT-OMS team provides order management software for the Private Client and Institutional business lines. The order management system (Longview Trading System) sits at the center of the investment process between proprietary portfolio implementation applications and a high-end execution system (Portware). Longview is responsible for the overall management of orders through the enterprise, including order generation, approval, compliance, aggregation, execution capture, client allocation, and outgoing feeds to back-office systems. Longview is a key component of the investment process and is critical to AB’s overall order flow. Longview is designed to be highly extensible and allows for unlimited, bespoke functionality to be added at the database, middle tier, and UI levels.
What You’ll Do:
The successful candidate’s primary focus will be enhancing and maintaining extensions to the Longview OMS. The candidate must be able to work across many aspects of a project and juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time. Strong analytic capability coupled with the ability to create innovative solutions is a key to success.
Specific tasks include (but not limited to):
Understand complex business problems and design / implement clean, scalable solutions.Design and develop interfaces with external systemsPartner with other development teams on integration efforts in addition QA and BA teamsNon-functional projects such as code refactoring, streamlining processes, store procedure optimization, etc.In all cases, must own solutions through all phases of the SDLC including post-production deployment
What We’re Looking For:
- BS in Computer Science or related field; MS Computer Science preferred
- 5+ years’ experience with C# (preferred) or other OOP language
- 5+ years’ experience with T-SQL (SQL Server preferred) or other SQL language
- Experience with OEMS applications, including FIX messaging, is preferred
- Skills:
- N-tier design, DDD, SOA, asynchronous processing, threading designs
