You will oversee the performance of complex analysis that influences decision making at the P&C Leadership team. You’ll set the strategic direction for and oversee the development of communication materials for Nationwide's senior leadership, board of directors, rating agencies and other internal and external audiences. You’ll also actively participate on the leadership team to influence and drive important strategic initiatives including talent recruiting, retention and development, and technological evolution.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Leads the strategy to redesign P&C Finance PM&A operations, tools, and platforms including but not limited to performance management framework, planning, forecasting, key performance indicators, reporting, and talent models to optimize processes, roles, and responsibilities across the function.
Identifies organizational change impact and training needs, designs change management strategy, and leads organization change management (including communication) strategies, ensuring that users are prepared to accept and efficiently use new processes and technologies.
Property and casualty consolidated expense strategy providing thought leadership around expenses and supporting the continuous improvement mindset. This role will direct a cross-functional process to establish multi-year expense road maps with alignment across products and functions. Ideal candidate will foster senior leader support while leading cross team implementation and governance.
The leader will provide functional expense management, focusing on property and casualty’s functional operational budget, participating as member of leadership teams. They will provide financial guidance around budget development, implementation, and result analytics seen through. Specifically, within claims organization, the leader will provide: Operational budget management, monthly reporting package development and presentations, assistance in CAT reporting, development of ultimate projection and board communication and partner with SMS on vendor contracts
Indirectly oversees the business segment financial reporting teams (led by AVPs and Sr. Directors reporting to the segment CFOs) by influencing the content and presentation of quarterly financial reviews. Also sets the strategic direction for advancements in the financial reporting technology environment that is leveraged across these financial reporting teams.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to VP, P&C Finance Transformation. Manages a team of 4-6 professionals. Indirect of up to 10-15 associates
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance, advanced studies (e.g., MBA) preferred.
License/Certification/Designation:
Experience: Typically, 10 or more years of experience in financial planning and analysis, pricing or other key Finance functions.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Ability to identify needs of the organization and develop a multi-year strategic plan. Strong demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and influence to achieve goals. Ability to attract, hire and develop strong talent. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build and defend a business case, provide executive level recommendations and reporting. Demonstrated ability to comprehend/explain Finance concepts and other advanced technical concepts. Ability to assimilate information and make recommendations based on a combination of factors. Foundational knowledge of technology and Finance data and tools.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
