About the RoleThe Avionics Technician II is responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing avionics equipment and systems for our aerospace vehicles. This role involves performing equipment setup and maintenance activities, using precision measurement tools, and fabricating fixtures. The technician will also apply precision cleaning, chemistry processes, and best shop practices, including 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness. This position is essential for ensuring the reliability and performance of our avionics systems, contributing to the overall success of our aerospace missions.
2nd Shift Hours: 3:30pm-2am Monday-Thursday. Includes 10% shift differential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair avionics equipment and systems.

  • Perform equipment setup and maintenance activities.

  • Use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for use, including non-flight parts with standard alloys and simple geometry.

  • Perform precision cleaning and chemistry processes.

  • Adhere to general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements.

  • Demonstrate correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware.

  • Apply 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness in daily tasks.

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to project timelines.

  • Document and report any issues or discrepancies found during inspections and tests.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically 2+ years of related experience.

  • Familiarity with general best shop practices including PPE and shop safety requirements.

  • Ability to perform basic equipment setup and maintenance activities and display general mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency.

  • Able to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for use, including non-flight parts with standard alloys and simple geometry.

  • Ability to learn and perform precision cleaning and chemistry processes.

  • Ability to learn 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.

  • Ability to demonstrate correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training, degree, or certification in avionics, electronics, or a related technical field.

  • Certification: Airman's certificate, FCC license, or IPC level certification.

  • Experience with avionics systems and equipment, including but not limited to navigation, communication, and flight control systems.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

  • Familiarity with avionics testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.

  • Knowledge of software tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting of avionics systems.

  • Understanding of RF (Radio Frequency) principles and their application in avionics systems.

  • Experience with soldering and crimping techniques for avionics wiring and connectors.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills



Compensation:

Pay Range:

$24.49 - $33.67

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.

Additional Requirements:

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps

  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity

  • Frequently requires vision abilities to include close, distance, depth perception, and telling the difference between colors

  • Frequently requires hearing abilities to include discerning different tones and volumes

  • Occasionally lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)

  • Frequently exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials

  • Frequently exposed to loud noises

  • Safety Sensitive Position:

  • Responsible for the safety or security of people or property

  • Inspects, handles, or transports explosives, dangerous or hazardous materials

  • Inspects structures, equipment or vehicles

  • Performs aviation related duties

  • Operate or supervise vehicles, heavy or dangerous equipment or machinery
