About the role

The Associate People Partner provides foundational support across the People Partner function. This role serves as the first point of contact for employees and managers on day-to-day People Ops questions, supports employee relations documentation and follow-through, and helps drive consistency across HR processes. The Associate builds capability by working closely with more senior People Partners and gains exposure to coaching, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development. This is a learning-focused, growth-oriented role designed to prepare the Associate for advancement into a full People Partner position as they develop judgment, confidence, and strategic capability.

Essential Functions

 Employee & Manager Support

  • Serve as the primary resource for employees and managers needing clarification on policies, processes, HR systems, and general People Ops inquiries.
  • Provide timely, accurate support that reinforces Riot’s expectations around clarity, communication, and consistency.
  • Help managers navigate foundational leadership responsibilities (feedback basics, documentation steps, role clarity, etc.) with support from more senior team members.

Employee Relations Support

  • Support People Partners in managing and documenting employee relations cases, ensuring adherence to process and escalation standards.
  • Handle low-complexity cases independently with guidance (policy violations, interpersonal friction, documentation alignment).
  • Identify patterns or concerns early and raise insights to the Senior People Partner or Director.

Performance Management Support

  • Assist with the execution of Riot’s continuous performance management process, including goal clarity, documenting feedback themes, and tracking action items.
  • Provide employees and managers with guidance on how to use the performance tools and systems effectively.
  • Support calibration preparation by organizing data, reviewing documentation, and ensuring accuracy.

Program Support & COE Collaboration

  • Support the rollout and adoption of People Ops programs (engagement surveys, onboarding improvements, L&D initiatives, benefits updates, etc.).
  • Work with Talent Management, Total Rewards, and other COEs to coordinate communications, track participation, and ensure consistency.
  • Provide feedback on program effectiveness and employee sentiment.
  • Design and facilitate foundational learning moments (live sessions, office hours, micro-learnings, toolkits) for managers and employees, applying learning principles and clear, actionable practice.
  • Support needs assessment and intake: gather themes from ER trends, manager questions, engagement inputs, and performance cycle friction points; propose targeted learning interventions and job aids.

Data & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate employee data in Riot’s systems; run reports and audits as needed to support decision-making.
  • Track metrics related to case volume, onboarding, engagement actions, and performance cycle activities.

Team Operations & Process Excellence

  • Help document processes, templates, and playbooks that improve the consistency and scalability of the People Partner team.
  • Identify incremental operational improvements and propose solutions that streamline workflows or strengthen employee experience.
  • Build and maintain enablement assets: facilitation guides, manager “how-to” playbooks, conversation scripts, and templates that scale consistent People practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Some foundation in HR practices, employee relations basics, and manager enablement.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in HR/People Ops, with a desire to grow into a strategic People Partner.
  • Strong customer-service orientation with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to stay organized, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality with professionalism.
  • Curiosity, proactivity, and willingness to learn and build new skills.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, asking good questions, and seeking clarity.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work consistently.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of HR experience, ideally in HR coordination, HR generalist support, or early employee relations exposure.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $70,000 - $80,000 base salary range, commensurate with experience
  • 401k plan with company matching
  • Great medical, vision, and dental plans to choose from
  • Long-term and Short-term disability
