About This Role
Axsome Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Manager/Associate Director, Sales Training and Development to lead strategic training initiatives that elevate the performance of our commercial teams. This role will be instrumental in executing launch readiness and training programs that drive excellence in product execution and market access capabilities. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, and Legal, to design and deliver impactful training solutions that prepare our field teams for successful product launche and ongoing market engagement.
This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.
Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Lead the design and execution of training programs for Axsome Specialty Account Managers, Regional Business Directors, and cross-functional field teams, with a strong emphasis on launch readiness and execution excellence
- Develop and deliver account-based training including, but not limited to, market access and to ensure sales teams can effectively navigate payer landscapes and access dynamics.
- Ensure sales teams are equipped to confidently communicate product features, clinical data, and safety information, applying advanced selling skills to drive meaningful customer engagement
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Patient Services, Market Access, Marketing, and Regulatory to ensure training content aligns with product strategy and compliance standards
- Identify and implement scalable, innovative training solutions that enhance field effectiveness and can be rapidly adapted across brands and customer segments
- Manage the LMS platform to deliver training content efficiently and ensure seamless integration of materials and assessments
- Lead training efforts at national and regional sales meetings, ensuring teams are prepared for product introductions and market expansion
- Stay current on industry regulations and guidelines to ensure all training content adheres to compliance and ethical standards
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 7+ years of overall pharmaceutical industry experience with 2+ years in training and/or sales coaching
- Up to 20% travel (Key meetings and POAs)
- Strong project management and execution skills, in pharmaceutical product launch environments
- Experience with vendor and budget management
- Experience facilitating training in both classroom and virtual settings
- Experience managing LMS platforms
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work on site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and communication skills
- Background in adult learning principles and instructional design
- Understanding of account management principles including, but not limited to, payer dynamics and market access strategy
- Strong understanding of CNS disorders and related therapies is preferred
Salary and Benefits:
The anticipated salary range for this role is $140,000 - $180,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
