Job Summary

This position’s primary responsibility is to support the GAAP or Statutory/Tax Actuarial Valuation and Financial Reporting procedures for Fidelity & Guaranty Life. This position will execute either the GAAP or Statutory/Tax valuation processes of designated lines of business.

This position reports to the Actuary, Actuarial Valuation or Sr. Associate Actuary.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monthly production of reserves under the following bases: GAAP or Statutory/Tax
  • Develop information for preparation, review and analysis of reserve movements
  • Maintenance/enhancement and timely execution of valuation controls
  • Assist in maintenance of the valuation programs for new products, new regulations, etc.
  • Other projects as assigned

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science or related technical field
  • Successful completion of five ASA examination requirements
  • Minimum of one year of related actuarial experience
  • Strong technical, analytical, organizational, computer, and team skills
  • Experience with indexed products preferred but not required
  • Exposure to GGY-AXIS or similar actuarial modeling software preferred

  • Team player who has the ability to function as a key member of a small group
  • High degree of ownership for their areas of responsibility
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Ability to learn and utilize actuarial software systems
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Typical professional office environment
  • Periods of extended sitting required
