About This Role

As an Account Manager at Compose.ly, you are the main point of contact for a portfolio of ~25 clients, from early-stage startups to enterprise brands. You own the relationship, the client experience, and the delivery plan, and you partner with your pod to execute SEO, content, and performance marketing work. We help our clients execute their SEO, performance, and content marketing strategies through a consultative and value-added approach. Our clients' success is our success.

Clients working with a Compose.ly Account Manager get someone who understands their business and tells them what is working, what is not, and what to do next. When you are doing well, clients trust our recommendations, see real progress, and choose to expand their work with us.

Responsibilities:

Client relationships and strategy

  • Build a deep understanding of each client's business, goals, and audience, and bring that context to the pod so the team can deliver well.
  • Partner with your SEO strategist and specialists to shape each client's plan across SEO, GEO, content, and paid media, then present and defend it to the client.
  • Run monthly check-ins and quarterly account reviews that show results, ROI, and next steps to stakeholders from marketing coordinators to C-suite executives.
  • Lead renewal conversations with clients, starting conversations well before contract ends with a clear recap of results and a proposed plan for the next term.
  • Spot risks to the relationship early, handle sensitive conversations diplomatically, and flag legal, compliance, or churn concerns to leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to expand an account and scope upsells or SOW adjustments with sales and leadership as client needs grow.

Delivery and project management

  • Own client onboarding from kickoff through first reporting cycle, coordinating SEO, content, web, and paid team members on their parts.
  • Manage timelines, scope, and priorities across multiple clients and deadlines so work is delivered on time and on budget.
  • Run the pod's projects in the Compose.ly platform and Asana, including maintaining task automations, due date notifications, and intake forms with the pod lead.
  • Keep client records accurate in HubSpot, including account status and SOW details.

Reporting and client enablement

  • Own delivery of tiered reporting, from lightweight monthly updates to executive and board-level decks, built with the pod and tailored to each audience.
  • Translate performance data into business impact, and lead training sessions that help clients interpret their results.
  • Turn our processes and tools into materials clients can use on their own.
  • Bring evolving AI practices into client work, including GEO and AI search strategy and AI-assisted content and reporting workflows.

Qualifications:

Required

  • 2+ years of account management or client services experience at a marketing agency, with a consultative approach to client relationships.
  • Working knowledge of SEO and content marketing, enough to discuss strategy credibly with clients and collaborate with strategists.
  • Comfort reading marketing performance data and explaining what it means for the client's business.
  • Experience managing multiple clients and deadlines at once in a project management tool such as Asana.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including presenting to senior stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with paid media, GEO or AI search, or web development projects.
  • Experience with HubSpot or a similar CRM.
  • Experience building Asana automations, templates, or intake forms.
