The Count Team Associate is responsible for supporting the secure and accurate counting, verification, and documentation of gaming revenue in accordance with internal controls and gaming regulations. This role is essential to ensuring the integrity of cash handling processes and maintaining a reliable audit trail for Finance and regulatory review. Success in this position is defined by precision, reliability, adherence to procedures, and the ability to operate effectively in a highly regulated, surveillance-monitored environment.
Key Accountabilities
Room Operations & Cash Handling: Participate in the secure collection, counting, sorting, and verification of gaming revenue in accordance with approved count procedures, internal controls, and gaming regulations.
Compliance with Gaming Regulations & Internal Controls: Adhere strictly to all established policies, count room procedures, segregation of duties, and regulatory requirements governing the handling of cash and gaming assets.
Accuracy & Verification: Perform cash and ticket counts with precision, ensuring all funds are accurately verified, balanced, and documented prior to release to Cage or Finance.
Documentation & Count Reporting: Complete all required count documentation, logs, and reports accurately and legibly, ensuring a clear audit trail for Revenue Audit, Finance, and regulatory review.
Surveillance & Security Awareness: Conduct all count activities under continuous surveillance, maintaining professional conduct and awareness of security protocols at all times.
Team-Based Workflow & Coordination: Work collaboratively with Count Team members, Cage, and Revenue Audit to ensure timely completion of count operations and proper handoff of funds and documentation.
Equipment & Systems Utilization: Utilize count room equipment, cash-counting machines, scales, and related systems safely and effectively. Report malfunctions or irregularities promptly.
Issue Identification & Escalation: Identify discrepancies, damaged currency, suspicious items, or procedural deviations and escalate immediately in accordance with internal control procedures.
Housekeeping & Secure Environment Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and secure count room environment, ensuring all materials, equipment, and cash are properly stored and secured.
Scheduling & Early Shift Readiness: Report reliably and punctually for scheduled shifts, including early morning hours (typically beginning around 4:00 a.m. or earlier; subject to change based on operational needs), to support timely count operations and downstream financial processes.
QualificationsGeneral

Must be at least 21 years old and able to obtain and maintain a Ute Mountain Ute Gaming Commission Support License.

Must demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, and trustworthiness when handling cash and gaming assets.

Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain strict adherence to internal controls and security protocols. Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and consistently.

Ability to work early morning shifts, typically beginning around 4:00 a.m. or earlier, and maintain reliable attendance. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a secure, controlled-access environment.

Experience

This position may be entry-level; prior experience in cash handling, banking, accounting support, or gaming operations is preferred but not required.

Experience working in a regulated or security-sensitive environment is a plus.
