Application Deadline: January 5, 2026
Overview/Summary:

KBRA is seeking a talented Summer Legal Intern to join our 10-week summer internship program, hosted from June 1 through August 6, 2026. This internship will provide you with the opportunity to gain firsthand experience at the market’s fastest-growing credit rating agency and to learn valuable skills coveted in any corporate setting. This internship will be based out of our New York office.

As part of the Legal Department, you will gain exposure to corporate, commercial, regulatory, compliance, governance, privacy, and operational matters. The team works closely with KBRA’s analytical and business groups on legal and regulatory issues that arise in the course of the company’s operations. Your work will also extend to legal and regulatory matters arising across KBRA’s U.S., UK, EU, and broader international operations.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with drafting, reviewing, and revising contracts and related documentation.
  • Conducting legal research and preparing concise memoranda on regulatory, corporate, privacy, and governance topics, and monitoring related developments.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of internal policies, procedures, and governance materials.
  • Assisting with special projects and legal operations initiatives, including knowledge-management and process-improvement efforts, and participating in meetings with in-house counsel and business stakeholders as needed.
  • Assisting with a broad range of legal and regulatory matters in collaboration with teams across the organization.

In addition to your day-to-day work, you will complete a capstone project to be presented to senior colleagues at the end of the internship. The capstone gives you the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge you bring to the internship, as well as those you develop throughout the summer. There will also be opportunities to interact with fellow interns through Lunch and Learns, social events, and other enrichment workshops.

About You

You thrive in an intellectually stimulating, growth-oriented environment. You are analytical, proactive, and ready to take on challenges.

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • Strong academic record and interest in corporate, financial services, or regulatory law
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as collaborate effectively with others
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT for research, data insights, and general productivity is a plus.

Base Pay

The anticipated base pay rate for the role will be $37.50/hour at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis by factors such as experience, level of education, skills, geography and other job-related factors.
