What It's Like to Work at NBCUniversal

NBCUniversal Employee Reviews

Employees coming out of college are going to own a project. You’re going to come here and build something that’s going to be used. Here you’re not just going to build something to keep you busy.

Working as an engineer at NBCU is phenomenal. Our technology runs the gamut from stuff that has been on air for fifteen years to cutting edge technology related software, IP, and cloud technologies.

The fun thing about working in media as opposed to tech is that the end-product of what you put your time and effort into is what people are seeing on TV. It’s cool working on something that has an impact on people’s everyday lives.

We’re not a “technology company” but people join these companies to be a part of something larger. Media resonates on a personal level, connects to people, lets our engineers engage in more purpose-driven work.

Exciting! We all pass the vibe check! Great conversations between all levels regardless of role or title.

I started at NBCU as a QA Analyst, testing the NBC Sports App on multiple Platforms, and in 2019, I was promoted to Sr. QA. During my time on this team, I supported Monday Night Football, 2 Superbowls and 4 Olympic Games (and even won an Emmy for the Rio Olympics in 2016!) In Feb of 2022, I moved to Peacock OneApp and I was promoted to manager.

We have multiple projects that are complex and require a good coordination of resources from multiple teams. While this is challenging, I have to give kudos to every member of our team that works very hard on these projects while working on day-to-day troubleshooting tasks.

I encourage my team to do research and approach their tasks from different perspectives. I reward success, but I also remind them that failure is a great learning experience.

Our Employee Resource Groups have hosted such a variety of events, both virtually and in-person. I’ve had a chance to attend paint nights, pumpkin carving, one-on-one speed networking dates with other women in tech, movie premiere events and learning about different cultures/cuisines in celebration of AAPI month! There’s always something going on!
