Frequently Asked Questions

Cultural Alignment

Blink's culture is built around ownership, transparency, and genuine purpose. Employees describe a fast-moving environment where real responsibility comes early, decisions are made at the team level, and meaningful work doesn't require seniority.

The mission is central to how Blink attracts and retains talent. Frontline workers represent 80% of the global workforce yet have historically been underserved by workplace technology. Blink's employees — engineers, product managers, designers, marketers, and customer success teams — are united by a belief that closing that gap is worth doing.

Other defining characteristics of Blink's company culture include:

  • Cross-Atlantic collaboration. With engineering, product, and commercial teams spanning Boston and London, Blink operates as a genuinely global team with the flexibility that comes with it.
  • Transparency from leadership. Blink consistently earns strong ratings on Glassdoor for leadership communication and company direction.
  • Inclusive by design. Building for diverse, distributed frontline teams — from healthcare to retail to logistics — shapes how Blink hires and how it operates internally.
  • Optimism with honesty. The culture is energising without being performative. Challenges get talked about; wins get celebrated.

Team Dynamics & Collaboration

Collaboration at Blink - The Employee App is cross-functional, agile, and grounded in a simple principle: the people building the product use it every day. Blink employees collaborate on Blink itself — giving every team member firsthand experience of the platform they're shipping and a direct line between internal feedback and product decisions.

Engineering, product, design, marketing, sales, and customer success teams work in close alignment. Blink operates in an agile environment where small, empowered teams move quickly, ship regularly, and stay close to customer problems. Decisions are made at the team level, which means collaboration isn't just encouraged — it's how work gets done.

Key aspects of how collaboration works at Blink include:

  • Built on their own product. Blink teams use the Blink app for internal communications, updates, and day-to-day connection — making every employee both a builder and an end user.
  • Async-first, but human. With Boston and London teams working across time zones, Blink has built communication rhythms that keep everyone aligned without requiring everyone online at the same time.
  • Tight product and engineering loops. Blink's development culture is built around close collaboration between engineers, product managers, and designers — with customer insight feeding directly into roadmap decisions.
  • Flat enough to matter. Blink is scaling, but it hasn't lost the collaborative energy of a startup. Senior leaders are accessible, and cross-team projects are the norm rather than the exception.

Recognition Practices

At Blink, employee recognition is structured, transparent, and tied directly to the behaviours that define how the company operates. Recognition isn't an afterthought — it's built into the performance framework, the compensation model, and the culture itself.

Blink uses a proprietary competency framework called IMPACT — six core behaviors that every employee is measured against, celebrated for, and developed through. The six behaviors are Initiative, Mastery, Passion, Act Now, Customer, and Teamwork. These aren't abstract values on a wall. They're the shared standard against which performance reviews, promotions, compensation decisions, and stock option allocations are all made.

Every quarter, Blink recognizes standout employees with a £250 / $335 gift card for demonstrating one of the six IMPACT behaviors at an exemplary level. Any employee — regardless of team or seniority — is eligible.

Employees who win an award in every IMPACT category achieve IMPACT Hall-of-Fame status, which comes with a reward of additional Blink share options.

At Blink, recognition goes beyond awards. Pay reviews, variable compensation, and promotion decisions all take IMPACT behaviors into account alongside KPI delivery. Managers use the IMPACT rubric in one-to-ones and coaching conversations to give specific, evidence-based feedback — moving recognition away from perception and toward measurable standards.

Blink - The Employee App Employee Perspectives

What’s it like to work on the customer success or customer experience team at your company?

I have the distinct privilege of leading the global customer success team at Blink. If I had to use just one word to describe what it's like to work with this team and our customers, I would say energizing.

This team is full of passion, care and a relentless dedication to helping our customers realize the true value of their investment in Blink. Every single day, I am impressed by the stories and examples our team and leadership share with me about the impact we're making.

Customer success is a complex and rewarding role filled with peaks and valleys. This team completely understands how to navigate those ebbs and flows and they still bring incredible energy to what they do every day.

How does your team collaborate with sales, product, support or technical teams to help customers succeed?

Cross-team collaboration is a key element of our secret sauce and a fundamental ingredient in our work every single day. Frankly, our customer sentiment and retention would not be where they are without this alignment.

To keep everyone connected, we host a weekly, action-packed 30-minute meeting with our product, support and professional services teams. It’s a structured but completely open forum to discuss all things related to our customers — whether someone needs to ask for help, raise a risk, align on a plan, or celebrate a big win.

Beyond that weekly hub, we drill down into specific partnerships. We maintain an ongoing cadence with sales, where we participate in enablement and co-lead joint meetings on top strategic accounts to ensure we're driving toward the same adoption goals. We also stay tightly tethered to our support team; because they are heavily engaged on the front lines, our close daily collaboration with them is absolutely critical to our customers' success.

What should candidates know about the culture or values that shape customer-facing work on your team?

The most valuable thing I can share is that our culture is exactly what it looks like from the outside. What you see on our social media is what it’s actually like to work here. A new hire recently shared with me that after a few months on the job, they were so relieved that Blink was exactly the company they hoped it would be. We have fun, work hard and genuinely care about each other and our customers.

Prior to joining, I was searching for an organization that had a certain "magic," something I had only experienced once before in my career. I found it here.

When people ask me what it's really like to work at Blink, I tell them "I'm having fun." It is a rare and special opportunity to say that you genuinely look forward to coming to work, even on the tough days.
