"Collaborative" and "supportive" are two of the most frequently used words employees reach for when describing what it's like to work here. We use tools like Slack, Confluence, Jira, and Coda, and we build rituals like retrospectives and cross-team standups into how we work collaboratively every day. In 2025, 96% of our employees reported feeling comfortable asking teammates for help, and 90% reported feeling comfortable sharing constructive or challenging feedback, reflecting both strong teamwork and genuine psychological safety.
Our leadership reinforces healthy collaboration by publishing OKRs across functions and actively looking for ways to break down silos. At a recent company offsite, we ran an open brainstorming session specifically focused on how to reduce silos because we take that seriously. We're also proud to be included in Built In's Best Places to Work awards, which recognize companies with strong teamwork and an open, communicative culture.
Our teamwork and open culture have been recognized by BuiltIn as a Best Startup to Work at in all of our 3 locations of San Francisco, New York, and Colorado. We also have been recognized with how well our teams collaborate with customers such as Nebraska Methodist, Cleveland Clinic, and Duke University Health System.
Employee recognition at AKASA happens through a mix of formal programs, compensatory rewards, and everyday moments that make contributions visible across the company. Twice a year, we publicly present values awards at our company offsite to employees who exemplify one of our four core values in their work. This has become a meaningful tradition that ties recognition directly to the culture and mission our people care about.
We also encourage employees to to highlight smaller, consistent moments of recognition in a way that allows appreciation to feel genuine rather than performative. A dedicated Slack channel celebrates both wins and meaningful learning experiences, reinforcing that growth is valued right alongside results. At each all-hands, we call out tenure milestones as well as group and individual accomplishments, making contributions visible to the entire company. We have a culture of continuous feedback. Our formal performance and feedback cycles throughout the year provide additional structured opportunities for recognition. We also award spot bonuses of both cash and equity on an ongoing basis to recognize exceptional contributions as they happen.
In 2025, 82% of our employees say they feel appreciated when they do good work, contributing to our overall engagement score of 89, which places us in the top decile of tech startups.
