
Glenwood Springs becomes the 7th city in the U.S. to run on 100 percent renewable energy. The Colorado city will run solely on renewable energy starting June 1st. This makes it the second municipality in Colorado to do so. The Glenwood Springs City Council approved a resolution to purchase all of the city’s electricity from plants generating clean wind power. Glenwood Springs is known as a resort town tucked in the Rocky Mountains and is famous for its hot springs. Denver-based cybersecurity company Swimlane raises $23 million in Series B funding. Swimlane develops security software that helps spot cyber threats and automates the response. The new round of funding brings Swimlane’s total funding to $35 million. Swimlane was founded in 2014 and has been growing quickly as of late. Upland Software acquires Kapost for $45 million. Boulder-based startup Kapost produces B2B marketing software, which Upland wants to incorporate into its cloud-based enterprise work management software. Upland has a history of gobbling up startups, with Kapost being the company’s 22nd acquisition. [Press release]
The winners of Go Code Colorado have been announced. The Go Code Colorado competitions challenge teams to create apps that use public data to provide a service to people or organizations. This year’s event included over 40 teams and almost 200 coders from across Colorado. The themes were Analytics and Product, with two teams winning in each category. Cannabis company KelSie Biotech closes first tranche of $5M Series A. The investment round was led by Salveo Capital, a firm that focuses on investing in cannabis startups. KelSie has several patents and proprietary technologies for cannabis/CBD drug delivery methods. [Press release]
