In the day-to-day hustle that is working in sales, it’s important for teams to take a step back and celebrate their wins. From ringing gongs to popping open a couple cold, celebratory beers, every company has its own unique traditions that keep morale high and remind every salesperson why they do what they do.

In the spirit of selling, we talked to seven local sales leaders about those traditions and how they measure the success of their teams.

Convercent’s cloud-based platform drives ethics to the center of a business, helping companies maintain compliance, avoid risks and manage things like employee helplines, disclosures, training, codes of conduct and more. VP of Corporate Accounts Ryan Pryor shared how his team celebrates wins big and small.

Let’s start with the basics: What constitutes a “sales success” at your company?

At Convercent, we celebrate several different types of sales successes: when a recognizable logo engages via marketing generation, when an SDR lands a meeting with a target account, when a team member exhibits one of our core values or when an account executive welcomes a customer to our organization. We celebrate wins, both small and large, that demonstrate personal or professional growth or development.

All prospects that become customers get announced to the broader company. In this communication, we speak about the customer, what their business does and why they chose to partner with Convercent. Beyond that, we thank the individuals throughout the company who made extraordinary contributions to help realize the win. We also have our share of deal chains, bells and gongs to signify success. The most unique tradition, though, is our bread wall with all of our customers’ logos displayed — a consistent reminder that they are the fuel that feeds us.

Securing files and data internally is easy, but what happens when that information is shared with people outside an organization? Vera provides tools to track, secure and control sensitive information — wherever it goes. Sales Development Manager Chelsea Parker shed some light on her team’s straightforward approach to success.

A sales success at Vera is simple: are we closing business and adding logos that move the needle for our growth?

Big wins at Vera are celebrated with lots of good food, a healthy amount of beverages and, of course, gong rings. A moment that really stands out to me is when a top-10 manufacturer decided to implement our solution wall to wall within their organization. It changed our business forever.

Let’s start with the basics: What constitutes a “sales success” at your company?

Results. Successful sales folks are the right amount of hungry and humble. At PlayerLync, we have a great product and process, and if you learn both and work hard, you’ll be successful. The best results come from the employees who have the right attitude and the proper focus.

Wins breed wins, so we celebrate often.”

NetApp helps global organizations do more with their data by streamlining the implementation and management of hybrid cloud data services and making data accessible from anywhere. According to Americas Business Development Leader Marshal Thompson, a win for their customers is a win for the sales team, too.

Let’s start with the basics: What constitutes a “sales success” at your company?

NetApp engages customers in an IT transformation effort. We seek the desired business outcome, whether it’s to improve products and time to market or support exponential growth through data-driven strategies. When we are able to partner with our customers and drive impactful business outcomes, it’s deemed a success.

We win as one team and celebrate as one team.”

What are some of the ways your team celebrates big wins?

We win as one team and celebrate as one team by enjoying the local craft beers we have on tap from the kegerator in our break room. By celebrating in the common area, team members from other departments are welcome to join us. You may also occasionally find us celebrating at West Flanders Brewery, which is located near our office on the Pearl Street Mall. The most memorable celebrations take place when we have out of town visitors join us in nearby Vail and we’re able to show them the area while having some fun.

RingCentral’s all-in-one communication platform allows teams to connect and collaborate from anywhere and on any device through voice, video, team messaging, online meetings and more. Mid-Market Team Lead Dylan Bishop explained how building strong partnerships — both internally and externally — is the foundation of any big sales win.

Let’s start with the basics: What constitutes a “sales success” at your company?

Teamwork, collaboration and dedication to our clients are what define success here at RingCentral Denver. We focus on the details and ensure our clients and prospects know that we are looking at this relationship as a partnership — not just a transaction.

We don’t quit at RingCentral, and that is what defines our sales group.”

In the past, we have celebrated with a team dinner. There have been wins with gift cards and cash on the line. We have also included an extra day of PTO for certain big wins. The best wins often come on the last day of the month at the eleventh hour when everyone else has gone home. We don’t quit at RingCentral, and that is what defines our sales group.

Pax8 aggregates and delivers cloud services for managed service providers, making it easier for SMBs to bundle and customize cloud services to meet their needs. Director of Sales Kipp Johnson shared how their metrics for sales success go way beyond quotas — and why partners are invited to join in celebrating big wins.

Let’s start with the basics: What constitutes a “sales success” at your company?

At Pax8, sales success isn’t solely defined by quota attainment. Hitting our goal is, of course, important, but we rate our sales success beyond just the numbers. Our sales department is truly successful when we have a happy partner community, quality interdepartmental collaboration and a good culture. You can have one good month of sales, but the longevity and consistency of a sales organization are far more dependent on the quality of services we provide and the happiness of our employees.

What are some of the ways your team celebrates big wins?

Pax8 holds a monthly all-hands meeting where any big wins are recognized companywide. Leading salespeople are also given awards and the ability to qualify for the presidents club. When the company wins big across the board, we often recognize this by creating a social event for all departments to celebrate. Just this week, we ran an internal trade show to celebrate Pax8’s success last month and further our interdepartmental collaboration. We typically like to include members of our partner base in events such as these, as they are the drivers of our success.

Apto delivers web-based CRM software to commercial real estate brokers, helping them streamline deal flows and manage communications with clients and prospects. Chief Revenue Officer Rok Kopp, who leads Apto’s sales team, explained why setting clear sales goals breeds a winning culture.

Let’s start with the basics: What constitutes a “sales success” at your company?

Hitting your quota. We want success to be very black and white. Our job as a sales function is to deliver on the quota that we’ve committed to the company. We want to make sure we put reps in a position to be successful because winning cultures are contagious.

What are some of the ways your team celebrates big wins?

We love to celebrate wins at Apto! One thing we do is a 100-percent quota dinner. All reps who hit 100 percent of their quota for a quarter get to go to any restaurant in Denver for a team celebration on the company’s dime. We also did a Q3 celebration by taking the whole team out on a bike bar ride.
