While locals enjoy the spring bloom at Enchanted Mesa or Mount Sanitas here in Colorado, the tech scene continues to flourish as well.

Colorado companies raised over $40 million in VC funding in March, according to reporting from Built In Colorado, and opportunities for expansion and talent development promise new opportunities and growth in 2023.

For job seekers looking to find a great-fit hybrid or remote role here, Built In Colorado gives an inside look at local companies Homebot, Matillion and Wowza Media Systems.

What They Do: Homebot connects people to make informed homeownership decisions together. The fintech company’s platform offers consumers actionable insights and helps them work together with experts like loan officers and real estate agents to better manage the homebuying process.

Changing the Status Quo

Last month, Homebot closed its acquisition of Quo Finance, a mobile app focused on helping first-time homebuyers begin to grow wealth through real estate. Quo co-founders Neel Yerneni and Tucker Haas joined Homebot to continue working toward both companies’ unified goal. “Partnering with Homebot guarantees that we will continue to build on our mission and empower millions towards their goals of home ownership and building wealth,” Haas said.

Hybrid at Homebot: For job seekers looking for the flexibility to work in a hybrid environment while enjoying the camaraderie of the office environment, Homebot’s hybrid workplace offers the best of both worlds. Denver-area Homebotters are asked to come into the company’s LoDo office on Thursdays when the team enjoys catered lunches, a weekly sync and the “Demos and Drinks” biweekly happy hour hosted by the product and design teams. “Our downtown location makes it incredibly convenient for Homebotters to go out to lunch together or gather after work for dinner or drinks,” People Operations Generalist Erica Schwer told Built In Colorado

What They Do: Matillion’s cloud services are focused on helping businesses quickly transform data into actionable insights. The platform is built on native integrations to cloud data platforms like Snowflake, Google BigQuery and Microsoft Azure Synapse to help modern enterprise data teams work more efficiently and productively.

Matillion’s Values

In addition to offering a diversity-focused work environment and five days of volunteering leave annually, Matillion roots its work in a set of core values that define how employees work and foster an inclusive culture. Matillion’s employees are committed to being collaborative, passionate, honorable and caring about their colleagues and their communities.

Hybrid at Matillion: Matillion’s work environment isn’t remote-first but instead focuses on supporting each employee as they find a hybrid-work rhythm that allows them to do their best work. Last September, Built In Colorado highlighted Matillion’s people-first approach to  hybrid work, which puts ownership and responsibility in the hands of employees. And Matillion’s downtown Denver office provides the team with the space and opportunity to connect and collaborate in a central and thriving neighborhood.

What They Do: Wowza Media Systems reduces the complexity of streaming video and audio delivery for service providers, direct customers and global partners. In addition to video player and video-on-demand solutions, Wowza also simplifies producing and scaling livestreams.

Supporting Women at Wowza

Wowza’s culture supports growth for every employee, according to Director of Security and Compliance Elizabeth Koehler. “It’s always inspiring to me to see women working with women and boosting each other up, so I always try to seek out those opportunities to make others feel that way,” Koehler told Built In Colorado. The monthly Women of Wowza meeting has also helped create change to support women at the company, including advocating for longer maternity leave last year.

Remote with Wowza: Wowza’s culture gives employees the opportunity to work from wherever in the world is best for them — whether that means from the comfort of their own homes or from the dog-friendly Denver and Berlin offices, which also offer unlimited snacks and catered lunches.
