Colorado tech companies from a variety of sectors made local headlines last week. Whether it’s a Boulder company that measures water levels in Africa or a Denver startup that helps property owners furnish their Airbnb rentals, these startups received funds for future growth. BetterCloud received a strategic growth investment. BetterCloud, the developer of a platform that helps companies manage and secure all of their SaaS applications, is based in New York City but has an office in Denver. The company said the undisclosed amount of funding from Vista Equity Partners will allow it to accelerate product innovation, improve the customer experience and expand its team. [BetterCloud]

Rescripted was featured in the Future 5 seriesAbby Mercado’s experience with IVF and the fertility world prompted her to launch a fertility medication management startup that has since merged with a fertility content platform. Today, her startup Rescripted serves as a platform that features educational articles, videos, a product marketplace and a digital pharmacy. [Built In Colorado]

Showplace raised $2M. Showplace is a platform that helps design and furnish short-term rental properties on Airbnb and VRBO. The platform, which features more than 10,000 short-term rental listings, placed more than $8 million worth of products into short-term rental homes last year. Virridy nabbed $5.5M. Virridy is a Boulder-based environmental tech company that has been measuring Africa’s water supply for the past 10 years. Now it is giving equal attention to preventing drought in the western U.S. The Series A funding will be used to develop sensor technologies and to link geospatial data and remote sensing data. StarRez hired two executives. StarRez is the developer of a residential community and student housing software. The company, which has dual headquarters in Denver and Melbourne, Australia, recently added two executive leadership positions to its global team of more than 200 employees. Monique Wallick has been named chief people officer, and Jason Day will be the company’s chief revenue officer. StarRez said these new roles were created to support the company’s rapid growth.
