GIS mapping company Esri is upgrading from the Interlocken Business Park in Broomfield to the Colorado Tech Center in Louisville to accommodate its growing Colorado workforce.

Esri is best known for its GIS software, which integrates descriptive data with geolocation technology onto an interactive map platform. The company’s software is used by more than 350,000 organizations globally, including Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, nonprofits and universities.

The Redlands, California-based company told Built In that it employed 140 Colorado workers before the pandemic and has since increased its ranks to 200. More than 50 Colorado employees work remotely, but they are able to use the office as needed.

Esri said its new office at The Collective at Colorado Tech Center has been designed to support its growth over the next five years.

Christian Carlson, the company’s director of state and local government sales, said in a statement that the Colorado team includes experts from a wide range of industries, including defense, commercial, utilities, education, natural resources and state, local and national government.

“We have a special situation here in Colorado, where our team is made up of some of the most talented geospatial professionals in the industry with expertise in the full range of GIS capabilities and domains,” Carlson said. “Even more inspiring is the work this team is doing to support professional GIS users and the growing location market.”

Esri plans to continue hiring Colorado employees for a variety of roles, including training, software development, consulting and implementation.

“As a hub for intelligence and space exploration, the Denver metro area contains several important government agencies and commercial companies in the geospatial field,” Beau Legeer, the company’s director of imagery and remote sensing, said in a statement. “Esri recognizes the area’s importance and its contributions to location intelligence technology, and we look forward to expanding to better integrate with these important players in the market.”
